Liu He's tomb was confirmed. Is Liu He really like that in history?
Liu He has been in office for 27 days, and there are countless charges. In the end, he was characterized as "dissolute and confused, lost the ceremony of the emperor, and messed up the Han system", so that he stepped down in a hurry. Is Liu He a dissolute person after all? What absurd things did he do in just 27 days that ministers could not bear?

Western Han racing rich second generation

Let's talk about what Liu He was like when Changyi Wang was not an emperor. According to the history books, Liu He was really a fun-loving person when he was young. When he has nothing to do, he invites his friends to watch song and dance performances, drink a little wine and get together for dinner. This is a typical rich life.

In fact, these are not too many. After all, as a little prince who attacked his father's title, he grew up in a good family and had no greater political ambitions and possibilities, so it is understandable to enjoy life more at ordinary times. What's more, this L expression of life satisfaction is also a kind of self-protection to some extent. After all, the emperor wouldn't like a captaincy studying scriptures, visiting teachers, making friends or practicing martial arts in Qiang Bing every day at home. At the same time, there is no historical evidence to prove that Liu He was "promiscuous" when he was the king of Changyi, and Liu He never ordered anyone to be killed when he was a vassal or emperor. On the whole, he is a very kind host.

Like many rich second generation today, Liu He's outstanding hobby is racing. Of course, he is a carriage. According to the biography of Han Dynasty, Liu He once traveled with his entourage. On a whim, he rushed up and ran 200 miles in less than half a day. Wang Ji, a subordinate admonition officer, felt that the situation was serious, so he wrote a letter to remonstrate, thinking that racing was not in line with the etiquette and music system and the status of a vassal, and it was also very dangerous. I hope Liu He won't do this again. Liu He immediately admitted his mistake after seeing the admonition book, and sent someone to Ji Wang to give him 500 Jin of beef, 5 bottles of wine and 5 bundles of dried meat, to show his sincerity in admitting his mistake and to thank Ji Wang for his timely admonition. Unfortunately, Liu He can correct his mistakes, but he can't persist for a long time. In a few days, he will get used to it and go back to the past.

Judging from the story of Biography of Han Dynasty, Liu He still has a group of loyal ministers who dare to speak out, and Liu He respects them very much, and basically teaches them with an open mind. Imagine that Liu was educated by his ministers even if his carriage drove faster, so it is estimated that he would not make any other big mistakes.

During his 27-day reign, several major crimes about Liu He's abolition of government were finally summed up as "dissolute and chaotic, imperial etiquette was ruined, and Han system was chaotic". From Huo Guang's impeachment report on Liu He in History of Wu Wuzi, we can probably sum up the following specific charges:

1. The first emperor (Emperor Zhao Han) ate meat secretly at his funeral.

The emperor died, and Liu ascended the throne in Beijing. The first thing he did when he first ascended the throne was naturally for the funeral. Between funerals, Liu He, who is used to eating and drinking at ordinary times, can't stand the simple meals during the national mourning, and wants to secretly end a meat and animal meal in his own palace. At this time, the food supervisor said that "the funeral is not full, and the diet cannot be restored as usual." Maybe Liu He was really greedy, so he asked his men to buy some pork and chicken and take them into the palace to steal. Stealing meat during the national mourning is certainly impolite, but it doesn't seem to be a particularly serious crime. Besides, Liu He doesn't eat meat because he is greedy. It may also be because he is in poor health and needs more nutrition. Because according to historical records, Liu He was very weak and probably suffered from rheumatism and other diseases. Less than thirty years old, he can't walk normally. Liu He did die young, and finally only lived to be 33 years old. Liu He's illness is probably the hereditary disease of the whole Han Dynasty royal family. Because if you look at the emperors of the Western Han Dynasty, the emperors who died in accidents are not counted, and few emperors who died really lived long. Except for Liang Wudi, who lived 69 years, Wendi only lived 46 years, Han Jing 47 years, Xuandi 42 years, and Zhao Han only lived 20 years ... So it's not a big mistake for the emperor to have a good meal.

Speaking of Liu He's poor health, there are actually many evidences and clues. For example, Wang Ji's admonition to Liu He recorded in Hanshu repeatedly mentioned that Prince He of Liu should take care of himself and so on. Among the bamboo slips and wooden slips unearthed from the tomb of Hai Yin Hou, there are also some books on medicine and diet, such as Medical Books and Five Colors Eating Victory. It can be guessed that Liu He's health has not been very good, so he often reads some books on health care. At the same time, many medicinal materials similar to Cordyceps sinensis were unearthed in the tomb of Hai faint Hou. I don't know exactly what medicinal materials are, but they have always been used by Liu He for tonic or body conditioning.

In addition, according to members of the archaeological team of Hou Tomb, one tooth of Liu He's remains is well preserved, and judging from the front teeth, Liu He was likely to suffer from diseases before his death. Of course, further information needs to wait for the results of DNA testing. But in any case, eating vegetables can't be the main reason why Liu He was abolished.

Ten women were captured on the way to Beijing.

This charge is recorded in The Biography of Wu Wuzi in the History of Han Dynasty as "advocating agriculture, making great slaves good at clothes and carts". That is to say, during his visit to Beijing, Liu He robbed many beautiful women along the way and hid them in clothes and carts. This sounds absolutely enough to rob a commoner and debauchery! But there are also two problems:

First, did Liu He order his men to rob the girl, or did his men make their own decisions? No sooner had Liu He and his party arrived in Beijing than his remonstrators raised the issue of robbing people with Liu He. At that time, Liu He's reaction was "I don't know about it". Liu, he doesn't have to lie in front of his subordinates. The truth is that Liu He saw many beautiful women on his way to Beijing, and he was very happy. The men saw through the master's mind, and in order to cater to the master, they stole some and hid them in the car. In this way, Liu He can only control the laxity of his subordinates, but he can't control debauchery.

Second, to say the least, even if Liu He became emperor with himself, the hormone index suddenly soared, which is not a big crime. Think about his predecessor, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. The biggest regret is that he died without a son! This just let the old man liu picked up a bargain. Therefore, as soon as Liu He came to power, he learned the lessons of the previous dynasty, and it is human nature to start from the beginning to the end and establish more princes as soon as possible. Compared with Liu Sheng, the king of Zhongshan Jing in the Han Dynasty (that is, Liu Bei's ancestor who was recognized every day), he gave birth to more than 120 sons. Liu He, these are really nothing. Besides, this doesn't count. He has only been in office for 27 days in total. How much strength can he have even if he is ridiculous with his poor tofu body?

3. Appoint your own Changyi veteran.

In fact, this item is not a sin. As far as Yugong is concerned, Liu He is not familiar with Jing Chen, but it is more tacit and convenient to cooperate with Wang Mi's servants in Changyi. Personally, Liu He came to a strange city to be emperor. The first thing he can trust is, of course, his old class and his old subordinates. Emotionally, it's normal for one person to get the word and the chicken and dog to ascend to heaven. It is normal for the master to be an emperor and his subordinates to be promoted and promoted. Needless to say, otherwise, who will faithfully assist you in the future; In truth, it is common sense to change several ministers when the new emperor comes. Moreover, there is no record in the history books of how many titles Liu He made his former officials, and his former Changyi governor An Le only made a Changle Wei.

But all this aroused great dissatisfaction from one person, that is, Huo Guang, the powerful minister of the dynasty. Since Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty, all countries above the imperial court have been "politically dependent on light" (Hanshu). As soon as the new emperor Liu He came to power, he actively promoted his own people, which of course violated the interests of Huo Guang, and this was probably one of the main reasons why Liu He was later pulled down.

I hold the imperial seal every day.

It is recorded in Hanshu that Liu He took the imperial seal every day after he became emperor, which is also a sin? Shouldn't the imperial seal be held by the emperor? Actually, it's not like this. There was a special official in the Han Dynasty to manage the imperial seal. The jade seal is usually kept by this official, and the emperor can take it and stamp it when necessary. But even in this context, Liu He, who just became emperor, was happy from ear to ear. Sleeping for two nights with the imperial seal was not a big crime, and it would never be abolished.

After reading the performance of Liu He before and after he ascended the throne, people feel that it is not so outrageous. Of course, there may be deeper reasons that are not recorded in the history books, but all the reasons for abolishing Liu He are absolutely unavoidable.
