Generally speaking, Huang Huali, Hainan, with big heartwood, is called "the mother of pears", while Hainan, with small heartwood, is called "the hero of pears".

The main characteristics of Hualigong are: it belongs to the same family as Huali mother, with similar appearance, generally higher than Huali mother tree, yellow material, unintentional, tasteless, yellowish brown to yellowish brown, and dark brown: looser than Huali mother, but with stronger luster, clear and beautiful texture, and lower density than Huali mother tree.

Mother pear, commonly known as Hainan Huang Huali, has a scientific name of Dalbergia odorifera. Its heartwood is reddish brown, hard and thick, dense in texture, enchanting and strange, and it is famous for its grimace and ghost eyes. It is fragrant and can be used as a spice, and the heartwood of the root is also reddish brown.
