The principle of determining nationality in China is the combination of bloodline and birthplace. People's Republic of China (PRC) does not recognize dual citizenship of China citizens. According to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, China citizens who have settled in foreign countries voluntarily join or acquire foreign nationality, that is, they automatically lose their China nationality.

Nationality refers to a person's legal qualification as a national or citizen of a certain country, which indicates a fixed legal connection between a person and a specific country and is the legal basis for that country to exercise personal jurisdiction and diplomatic protection.

Nationality of birth: or adopt the principle of descent, that is, determine a person's nationality by the nationality of his parents at birth; Or adopt the principle of place of birth, that is, determine a person's nationality by the country where he was born; Or adopt the principle of combining bloodline and birthplace to determine their nationality. China adopts the principle of mixed descent, supplemented by place of birth, including three contents: first, both parents or one parent is a citizen of China, and I was born in China and have China nationality; Two, one or both parents are citizens of China, I was born in a foreign country and have China nationality; However, if one or both parents are citizens of China and live in a foreign country, and I was born with a foreign nationality, I do not have China nationality; Third, parents who are stateless or whose nationality is unknown have settled in China. I was born in China and have China nationality.

Article 4: One or both parents are China citizens, and I was born in China and have China nationality.

Article 5: One or both parents are China citizens, and I was born in a foreign country and have China nationality; However, if one or both parents are citizens of China and have settled in a foreign country, they will have foreign nationality at birth, but will not have China nationality.

Article 6: Parents are stateless or of unknown nationality and have settled in China. I was born in China and have China nationality.

Article 7 Foreigners or stateless persons who are willing to abide by the Constitution and laws of China and meet one of the following conditions may apply for naturalization as citizens of China:

First, close relatives of China people;

Second, settle in China;

3. There are other legitimate reasons.

Article 8: If the application for citizenship in China is approved, China citizenship will be obtained; Those who have been approved to join China nationality shall not retain their foreign nationality.
