The Historical Origin of Shenyang Middle Street
Shenyang Middle Street is the earliest commercial street in Shenyang with a history of nearly 400 years (1625-20 15). It has the reputation of "the first street in Northeast China" and is also the first pedestrian street in Shenyang and even China. Zhongjie is a commercial district with a long history and prosperous transactions in Shenyang. It has been more than 380 years since the port was opened in Ming and Qing Dynasties. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the horse markets in Kaiyuan, Guangning and Fushun in Liaodong prospered, which made the commodity economy of Shenyang, the center of the three major cities, develop rapidly. 1625, "Daikin" (later Jin) moved to Shenyang, and the economy became more prosperous, forming Siping Street (now Middle Street). Large department stores such as Jishun Silk Room and Silk Satin Village are mostly concentrated on the north and south sides of the street; Colorful and dazzling small commercial markets (fairs) are scattered in the hutongs along the topic.

The development history of ZOJE can be said to be a legend. It has become a witness to the prosperity and development of Shenyang. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the horse markets in Kaiyuan, Guangning and Fushun in Liaodong prospered, which made the commodity economy of Shenyang, the center of the three major cities, develop rapidly. 1625, "Daikin" moved its capital to Shenyang to rebuild and expand the brick city built in the Ming Dynasty. According to the saying that "the ancestral temple is on the left side of the palace, the national altar is on the right side of the palace, Wang Guan faces south, and there is a market behind Wang Guan" circulated in China history, two streets that were originally in the shape of a cross were converted into "wells". At that time, Zhongjie Road was called Siping Street, and there were bell towers and drum towers on both sides. Since 1636, the history of Zhongjie has been nearly 400 years. From the splendor of the imperial seal in the Qing Dynasty to its famous prosperity today, Zhongjie witnessed the development of Shenyang's commercial civilization: night market: in the hutong near the east side of Lunan Changjiang Photo Studio. Every time the light comes on, the market opens and does not rest until the dead of night. This is a busy place for small department stores, cigarettes, wine, tea and snacks. In the evening, people can buy delicious goods and taste various snacks here.

Gold and silver market: In a narrow alley on the north side of Shengjing Hotel today, it is a gold and silver jewelry market monopolized by Shencheng. Every morning, gold and silver merchants flock here to sell jewelry and undertake processing business, and their business is booming.

Bronze Stone: In Tongxing Hutong (the second section of Central Road), it is a place for making and trading copper and tin utensils. Because it is located behind the Forbidden City in Shenyang, just in the center of the old city, there is a saying that it is "copper-hearted and iron-hearted". There are many utensils sold here, such as clothes hooks, incense burners, wax tables and special copper hot pots, kettles and musical instruments. Pishi: In Pihang Hutong (Li Zhonghe, the second section of Zhongyang Road), the old record of its operation is unknown. According to the field investigation, this is the place where Pihang makes and trades, commonly known as "Dongpihang". The commodities bought and sold are leather clothes, fur hats, leather shoes and harness.

Book Market: It's in the hutong on the west side of the north side of the Drum Tower. This used to be a place where books, paper, pens and ink were sold centrally. During the Republic of China, in order to make money, Japanese businessmen copied the portrait of Sun Yat-sen and printed it on books and pencils to deceive the public. However, patriots bought domestic products, which led to a sharp drop in sales of Japanese goods.

Pear Market: In the East Hutong (near Chang'an Temple today) to the north of the Bell Tower, some grocery stores and vendors come here to buy goods every day. On holidays, residents of this city also come here to buy sweets and cakes, pears, pears, apples and so on.

Bird Market: The first hutong at the east end of Zhonglou South Road (formerly called Yuechuang Hutong) was the bird market of that year, and it was also the venue for cicadas after autumn. Every morning, I shed a maid to talk to you, and a hundred birds fly at the phoenix, which is very lively.
