What is the revolutionary history of Yongchuan?
At the beginning of Yongchuan liberation, our People's Liberation Army fought a fierce battle with bandits in Jiapo stockade and wrote an epic with life and blood.

1949 12, Yongchuan was peacefully liberated, and the enemy agents and bandits who fled here colluded to extort property and spread rumors in the village, plotting against our People's Liberation Army. On March 29th, 1950, the "Tiger Company" of the 35th Division of the People's Liberation Army 103 Regiment, led by the company commander Wu Zhijiang, chased the disabled bandits to Taiping Village. The people's liberation army shouted to the bandits and publicized policies, hoping that the disabled bandits would understand the situation clearly and surrender. But the remnant bandits in the village wanted to fight back with a tight fortress and refused to surrender.

There are cliffs in the second half of Taiping village, and a moat called "trench" by local people serves as a barrier outside the village wall. The village wall made of 2-meter-thick stone is 3 meters high and is equipped with eight batteries, namely Dongda, Dong Xiao, Nanda, Xiaonan, Xida, Xiao Xi, Peking University and Beixiao. There is an earth wall about 2.5 meters high at the outer edge of the village wall, every 6547. At that time, there were three gates in Taiping village, and bandits blocked them with stones. Taipingzhai is easy to defend but difficult to attack. Therefore, our People's Liberation Army met with strong resistance from stubborn bandits.

Where is the weakness of the Yugoslav capital? Wu Zhijiang, the company commander, carefully examined the terrain to find the best way to attack the stockade. Under the guidance of local villagers, the PLA finally found the weak link of the stockade-Nanxiaobao, from which the PLA launched a fierce attack. No matter how strong the city wall is, no matter how tight the defense is, it can't stop the pace of the just division of the PLA. Finally opened a gap. The people's liberation army rushed into the village and wiped out the stubborn bandit, and Taiping village was restored to calm.

In this fight against bandits, our PLA sacrificed 17 soldiers, and all the sacrificed soldiers were buried in the newly-built Martyrs Cemetery, which was the breakthrough in attacking Taiping Village in Yujiapo that year. Today, it has become a patriotic education base.
