What's the difference between drama, drama and opera?
1. Different origins

Opus,

Opera, the representative word in western languages, comes from the plural form of Latin "opus" (

opera), which was later extended to other European languages in Italian. As the name implies, the original intention of opera includes not only solo, duet and chorus on stage, but also dialogue, performance and dance.

at the end of 16th century, a group of humanists in Florence formed a group called "Camerata with Good Society" to revive the stage performance art in ancient Greece. They believe that the "chorus" part of ancient Greek drama is actually a chorus part, and some even think that ancient Greek drama is actually the same as today's opera, and all the plots are explained by songs.

Drama: Drama was introduced into China from abroad at the beginning of this century. In 197, Ceng Xiaogu, who studied in Tokyo, China, adapted from an American novel, The Record of the Black Slave Calling Heaven was the first script of China's early plays.

2. Different definitions

Opera: Opera is a western stage performance art, which is simply a drama that mainly or completely explains and expresses the plot by singing and music (a drama that is sung rather than spoken).

Drama: Drama refers to a form of drama mainly based on dialogue, which came to China in the late 19th century and early 2th century. Different from traditional stage plays and traditional operas, the main narrative means of drama is the actor's unaccompanied dialogue or monologue on the stage, but a small amount of music and singing can be used.

Drama is a comprehensive art, and script creation, directing, performance, beautiful dance, lighting and comments are indispensable. China's traditional dramas are not dramas, and some western traditional dramas, such as ancient Greek dramas, are not considered as strict dramas because of the extensive use of chorus.

3. Different characteristics

Opera: In content, it is mostly based on ancient myths and historical legends, and its content is serious, as opposed to comedy. In terms of structural form, the original five-act opera has changed into a compact three-act structure, and comic inter-act drama (Intremezzo, performed at the entrance of the stage) is often interspersed between acts.

It starts with a very unique overture (fast-slow-fast three-part form), and recitations and back-to-back arias are alternately performed, rarely using duets and chorus, and without dancing.

Drama: Stage. Drama performances at all times and all over the world are performed with the help of the stage. There are various types of stage, with two purposes: one is to facilitate the actors to perform the plot, and the other is to facilitate the audience to appreciate it from all angles.

Intuition, drama first directly affects the audience's vision and hearing through the actors' gestures, actions, dialogues, monologues and other performances; Then use makeup, clothing and other means to shape the characters, so that the audience can directly enjoy the appearance characteristics of the characters in the play.

comprehensiveness, drama is a kind of comprehensive art, which is characterized by the need and adaptation of shaping specific artistic images on the stage and directly showing social life scenes to the audience.

Dialogism, which distinguishes drama from other dramas, shows the plot, portrays characters and expresses the theme through a large number of stage dialogues. Among them, there are monologues of characters and dialogues of the audience, and the drama content is completed in a specific time and space.
