Although "art candidates" and "art candidates" are both candidates with artistic expertise and seem to be very similar in terms of title, they have different differences in the enrollment institutions, enrollment purposes, majors studied, and admissions. There is still a big difference in terms of scores and so on.
1. Application: Students with art specialties and art students must take the exam twice
What we usually call "art candidates" apply for higher art colleges or ordinary universities. Art majors should first take the provincial joint entrance examination in December and the school entrance examination in February. After obtaining the art major examination certificate, they can then take the general college entrance examination. They will be admitted according to the admission standards of art colleges and implement separate admission scores.
"Students with Art Specialties" (high-level art troupes) are set up by some ordinary colleges and universities to activate campus cultural life and promote quality education in schools. They admit students who meet certain requirements in the college entrance examination and have artistic expertise. Ordinary professional candidates.
To take the exam for art students, you must first take the unified test for art students. Registration usually starts at the end of October and the test is conducted in December. After passing the unified test, register online in January and send preliminary test video materials, check the results in February and take the college test in March. Candidates who pass the test must sign an agreement with the university to enjoy corresponding score reduction discounts during the college entrance examination. Only in this way can the candidates be considered qualified as students with artistic expertise.
2. Cultural admission scores: Students with artistic talents are higher than students with artistic talents
In terms of cultural scores, the admission scores of "students with artistic talents" are higher than those of "art candidates". In terms of the score reduction range, the score reduction range for "art candidates" is greater than that for "art candidates".
According to the relevant documents issued by the Ministry of Education, for the admission of "art candidates", each province will separately delineate the cultural score line for "art candidates". According to regulations, each province will recruit designated art undergraduates. The admission control score should not be lower than 60% of the second batch of general undergraduate admission control score determined by the province (district, city).
For the admission of "artistic students", the relevant provincial recruitment office can provide files to the school within 20 points below the school's adjustment score line (but not lower than the school's admission control score line for the same batch). The school will review and decide whether to admit; or at least be at the top of the general class.
In fact, the extra points everyone talks about are the reduced points that colleges and universities admit students with "artistic talents." Nowadays, students with general artistic talents can be admitted online, and the school requires about 20 minutes of offline admission. For example, Tsinghua University’s admission score is 640 points, and the first-tier score in the province is 510 points. Then students with artistic talents can be admitted to Tsinghua University as long as they score 620 points.
Students with artistic expertise must have at least a first-tier cultural score for the general category, while art candidates with a score of 350 or above will have the opportunity to attend a good school. The cultural admission scores of art students are not suitable for most students. It can be achieved.
3. There are far more enrollment plans and institutions for art majors in ordinary colleges and universities than for students with art talents.
There are relatively many colleges and universities enrolling art students, generally including: specialized art colleges and art majors in general comprehensive universities. The school's various art majors plan to enroll dozens to hundreds of students every year.
With the substantial expansion of enrollment in recent years, there are currently thousands of colleges and universities recruiting "art candidates". In recent years, the number of applicants for art majors across the country has exceeded one million, and the number of art candidates admitted every year has exceeded 1 million. It reached more than 200,000 people.
There are not many colleges and universities that recruit students with “art talents”. Currently, there are only about 53 colleges and universities in the country that recruit students with “art talents”. The number of students with artistic talents cannot exceed 1 of the total number of undergraduate enrollment plans in colleges and universities. Some projects only recruit 1 person nationwide, and the number of students enrolled in major colleges and universities is limited. For example, Beijing Normal University's high-level art troupe enrollment program in 2019 totaled 46 students, with no more than 3 students in each program; while the number of art undergraduate students in 2019 was 133.
4. After admission: "art students" study ordinary undergraduate majors
"Art candidates" study art majors in art schools or comprehensive universities after entering university. These majors mainly include music, art, art design, dance, drama performance, directing, photography, film and television choreography, broadcasting and hosting, etc. It belongs to the literature discipline category, and students are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree upon graduation.
After entering the school, "artistic students" mostly study general majors in colleges and universities such as liberal arts, science, engineering, and medicine, such as finance, law, business administration, computer, chemistry, etc. Candidates who are admitted as "students with artistic talents" will participate in the training and performances of the school art troupe, use their talents to serve the school art club, and rehearse in their spare time.
Both can be repaid at the same time. "Art candidates" can still apply for the "art specialty students" in ordinary colleges and universities, and take the art specialty student test according to the requirements of the institution, provided that your cultural class level is high enough. Similarly, "students with artistic expertise" can also register as "art candidates" and participate in art professional examinations organized by the admissions department and universities.
Note: "Art candidates" who pass the unified examination for art majors and apply for art majors in colleges and universities in advance batches will be admitted as early batches at the time of admission. After being admitted, they can no longer be admitted to other colleges and universities as "art candidates" Students with artistic talents are admitted. After being admitted, art candidates are not allowed to transfer to non-art majors.
5. Enrollment majors: There are more art students than students with artistic expertise
Art students are mainly enrolled in art majors, including: art, music, performance, drama, film, television and literature. There are professional categories such as dance, film and television choreography, broadcasting and hosting, and photography. Each professional category has different professional directions. There are many types of exams that art students can apply for, and some colleges and universities can apply for both majors.
Students with artistic expertise are mainly targeted at music (such as choirs, symphony orchestras, folk orchestras, etc.), dance (such as folk dance troupes, ballet troupes, modern dance troupes, etc.), drama language (such as Drama troupe, opera troupe, folk art troupe, etc.) and other professional recruitment. There are fewer majors for students to choose from.
Whether you are an art candidate or a student with artistic talents, it is another way to get into the university of your choice. When applying, candidates should read clearly the art application policies and college admissions brochures of their province, and see whether there are enrollment majors and quotas in the province. Make a reasonable choice based on your own professional level and cultural background, and do not apply blindly.
A music student who applies for the music major is an art candidate; and a music student who applies for the finance major is an art candidate.
Although both can enter university by lowering their scores, the requirements for art majors are equally high. In recent years, the number of applicants for art candidates and students with artistic talents has increased year by year, and the competition is equally fierce. We also need to continuously improve our professional standards, improve our academic performance, and continue to work hard to enhance our competitive advantage.
