The origin of Chaozhou string poems

Chaozhou music can be traced back to the ancient music of the Han nationality. Due to the rulers' expeditions to the south, the relegation of literati and the migration of the people in the Central Plains, the ancient music of the Han nationality flowed into Chaoshan area, and then combined with local folk music, and absorbed the music of "Zhengzi", "Kunqu Opera", "Western Qin" and "Waijiang" and evolved continuously.

Chaozhou music is traditionally played in five forms: gongs and drums, flute sets, string poems and fine music.

Chaozhou string poetry: a small ensemble played by Chaozhou Han folk stringed instruments and plucked instruments. Locally called "string poetry music". There is no written record of its history, but it has a history of at least 6 to 7 years from the ancient spectrum formula of "24 spectrum" used. Most of the top ten songs preserved today are Daqu in the Tang Dynasty and divertimento in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.
