Xi`an Conservatory of Music (Xi`an Conservatory of Music), referred to as "Xiyin", is located in the world's historical city of Xi'an. Its predecessor was the conservatory established by Marshal He Long in 1948. The "Music Department of Northwest Art School" was established in the Shanxi-Sui border area. In May of the following year, the school followed the army across the Yellow River and moved to Xi'an, where it was named the "Music Department of the Art College of Northwest Military and Political University"; it is the only higher music institution in the northwest region.

As of 2013, the college has two first-level master’s degree programs in Art Theory and Music and Dance, and 10 second-level master’s degree programs. There are 9 undergraduate majors, including 9 departments of musicology, composition, vocal music, orchestral music, folk music, music education, piano, dance, and electronic music engineering, as well as sight-singing and ear training teaching and research rooms, basic departments, attached middle schools, and art theory research rooms. department, the affiliated Northwest Ethnic Music Research Center is a key research base for philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi (university), and there are also symphony orchestra, symphonic wind orchestra, ethnic orchestra, Xi'an Drum Art Troupe, Qin Zheng Art Troupe and Chorus and other artistic practice groups. There are 3,600 undergraduate students, 350 graduate students, and 400 students from the attached middle school. The college's amateur music training center has 4,000 registered students and provides 20,000 amateur music examinations for society every year.

The college was founded in 1949, formerly known as the "Art College of Northwest Military and Political University" with Marshal He Long as president. In 1956, it was renamed "Xi'an Music College". In 1960, it was upgraded to "Xi'an Conservatory of Music". In 1980, the organizational structure of "Xi'an Conservatory of Music" was restored. In 1986, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a national master's degree authorization unit. In 1987, it enrolled master's students for the first time. In January 2009, the Graduate Party Branch was established. On December 9, 2010, the Dean’s Meeting decided to establish the Graduate Department of Xi’an Conservatory of Music.
