Dai Yuqiang was born in 1963 in a peasant family in Wen'an County, Hebei Province. Dai Yuqiang's father was an old revolutionary who gave up his leadership position in Tianjin at the beginning of liberation and resolutely led his family back home to work in farming. Dai Yuqiang's father passed away, and his 70-year-old mother still lives at home.
