Wuzhou City Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Project

Tengxian County (Xuanzhou Lion) and Cenxi City (Cowgirl Opera) were respectively rated as the hometown of Guangxi folk characteristic arts.

In 2004, an ethnic and folk culture database was initially established, involving 17 projects including drama, music, dance, ethnic and folk traditional etiquette, festival celebrations, and sports activities. Among them, the drama category includes Niuge Opera from Teng County, Luer Opera from Cangwu County, and puppet theater from Cenxi City; the music category includes folk songs from Mengshan County and Xia Li folk songs from Changzhou District; and the dance category includes Fire Bowl from Dieshan District. Dance, golden rooster dance in Dieshan District, dragon dance, lion dance, red deer dance in Cenxi City, mignonette dance in Cangwu County, ethnic and folk traditional etiquette categories include Hakka style chandeliers in Mengshan County, and wedding songs in Dieshan District; festivals The category includes Cenxi City’s Fireworks Festival; the celebration activities category includes Cenxi City’s Cowgirl Celebrating Spring Festival; the sports activity category includes Mengshan County’s Kwaikai and Teng County’s Xuanzhou Lion.

In 2005 and 2006, we organized backbones to conduct random inspections of the city’s intangible cultural heritage, organized applications for national and district-wide intangible cultural heritage protection projects, carefully wrote application forms, and recorded feature films, including Cenxi Niu Niang Opera, Four projects including Tengxian Lion Dance Skills, Wuzhou Guiling Cream, and Wuzhou Dragon Mother’s Birthday were among the first batch of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s intangible cultural heritage list.
