After moving from Beipu to Emei, he found that when children sang his songs, their innocent voices touched people's hearts even more, like the sound of nature. So Ataoge collaborated with nine students from Emei Elementary School in Hsinchu County to complete the new album "get out of class is over" in December 2000. It included ten songs in total, including "Fresh River Water" and "Lullaby from the Sky". It was published on the first CD, and "Looking at the Tianhe" was published on the second CD. In November 1998, Chunshui Studio moved to Emei from Beipu to prepare for a series of publishing projects. In the usually quiet country life, the most noisy thing was a few innocent little dogs. This group of children, the oldest was ten years old and the youngest was three, totaling about six or seven, liked to run to the front of our Sanheyuan on Saturdays or Sundays and shout together: "Chen, Yong, Tao, come out, come, play------, Chen, Yong, Tao, come out, come, play--", and then they were chased by several of our welcome dogs. After a while, they will automatically gather back like an army.

This group of children likes to come to the studio to play. One of the twins is named Tingting and Ruru, who are less than ten years old this year. Ruru seemed to be more rational. One day he came to the studio to help wrap CDs and install outer labels and shrink molds. He worked very diligently without taking a break or messing around. I asked him if he usually helped at home. It turned out that he was I often help make betel nuts, so I am very handy.

That day I gave her a song by Atao as a reward, hoping that they could change the song to sing next time. Unexpectedly, one day her three-year-old brother walked 300 meters with bare feet and a runny nose to ask for another song from me. open.

My younger sister Tingting is completely different from her elder sister. Tingting always has a happy and innocent smile on her face. One day, Tingting came to play alone. She looked up and asked Atao with a smile: "Chen Yongtao, do you know what class I like best?" Atao made a random guess. , she said happily, "You can't even guess that my favorite class is --- the next class ---!"

We think this child is really smart. Therefore, when the recording was completed and it was time to name the album, Tingting, a happy child, and this happy saying came to mind.

Since he moved to Beipu and started working in music, apart from friends and fans, the people with whom Atao often interacted were the children who made him want to "make friends" the most. For example, he and Gu Jingran, the child who always takes the initiative to "dance" in Miao Ping's singing, are "sworn" brothers. One time, Gu Jingran made a mistake and his father raised his fist to punish him. He actually raised his hand to block his father and said: "Wait a minute, Brother Tao (I and Brother Tao) are sworn brothers." His father couldn't help but accept it on the spot. Fist laughed.

In the past two or three years, Atao has written many songs related to children, but he has never had the opportunity to formally publish and promote them. Although he often expressed that interested teachers can use them, due to lack of Formal production and publication will result in loss of promotion opportunities. Living in a Hakka village, I see that what children are exposed to every day is nothing more than mainstream commercial music or some nonsensical products. At present, there is very little Hakka music available to children, so we actively want to promote this program first. This work is a gift from Spring Water to the children.

Each song here has a detailed background description, and the "origin" of these singing children starts in December 1998.

Two years ago in the winter (December 1998), Emei Elementary School celebrated its 100th anniversary. The principal, Mr. Jiang Xinqi, came to the studio to invite Ah Tao to perform for the school. Tao taught the children to sing the Hakka graduation song "Still Remember" written by Tao for the children and performed it at the school anniversary to commemorate this special day. I believe many old alumni will be very moved when they hear it, because this is a song written by many A Hakka graduation song that everyone remembers together.

The enthusiastic principal took a cassette of Atao singing a cappella with guitar accompaniment and taught children in grade three and above to learn to sing. On the day of the school anniversary, I took pictures in the audience and heard the children singing this skillfully. I was very touched by this song, and later I heard from a betel nut seller outside the school wall that even they almost learned to sing it, because it was played every day in school and it was still very clear through the wall.

A few months later, the Taipei City Government’s Hakka Cultural Festival invited Atao to perform. I recommended Emei Elementary School to perform together and participate in the publication of the commemorative CD. So, my contact with these children was like this Expand.

We have been busy with the publishing and performance activities of "Atao's Song" for a while. During this summer vacation, we asked the principal to contact the parents. After obtaining permission, we started the work in our newly built Sanheyuan studio. Singing practice in summer music class. The enthusiastic principal takes the children to the studio every day. After putting aside the pressure of the school's standard, the children became friends with us under Atao's playful teaching.

Our music classroom has no desks and chairs, only a large wooden bed board and many strange musical instruments, which the children have never seen before. Like colorful Latin drums, fruit-shaped rocking bells, finger pianos made of gourds and nails, hourglasses made of cactus... In addition to having classes on the bed board, we sometimes also teach in the kitchen or in the field. In short, it is a very free form. Unless the children are too inattentive, it is usually not easy to be punished for sitting or standing.

A Tao is good at getting along with children. It should be said that he is very good at playing with children. They all call him Brother A Tao. Before learning to sing the song "Childhood", he first took the children to play origami. I didn’t expect that children of this generation can’t fold airplanes. After folding them, we had a great time competing to see who was better and who could fly higher.

When we sang "Hsinchu Style", we took them to the Neiwan Line to take a small train, and also took them to a friend's pond to row a boat. Sometimes when we sang without energy, we cut some cardboard and drew pictures. Finally, after singing practice and recording, we Give each child a guitar as a souvenir. Hopefully they can one day sing these songs with a guitar or write their own songs.

These songs and this album were not originally designed to be a Viennese-style bel canto performance for children. Educational resources in the countryside are insufficient, and children have no opportunity to receive formal music education or learn vocal exercises. , there is no opportunity to learn to read staff, and our resources also lack such teaching conditions. Therefore, adhering to the original motivation of these songs, "nature", we hope that children can also learn to sing these songs in natural conditions, instead of being forced. Being trained, but having fun and feeling, not being trained, but being full of emotion to learn and express these songs.

So, in a teaching and singing style without sheet music, we use audio tapes and on-site teaching and singing explanations to make children familiar with these songs and convey these songs with their most original and natural voice expressions. Atao and I are unable to provide guidance in a formal academy manner, but we believe that with this method of living and learning, children's performance will be the most natural and innocent. Therefore, in this album, we can easily hear that the child's pitch is not accurate, or there is vibrato when singing, or it is not neat. All kinds of shortcomings are tried our best to avoid under the existing environmental conditions, and When we heard the final mixed work, we can only say that these shortcomings still need to be improved, but the child's performance is already full of flaws.

It is a pity that some of the songs were not selected this time. Like "Big Drama", I have always hoped that children can perform it, because it is a very exciting song that belongs to children. However, due to lack of suitable singers, we had to give up temporarily. I hope that caring teachers or parents can encourage their children to learn to sing this song.

There is another serious problem in the production process, that is, the children’s native language ability has become increasingly weak. Although the children singing this time can all speak Hakka, there are still many places where the pronunciation is affected. The assimilation of Mandarin means that a lot of time is spent on correcting pronunciation when teaching singing. This problem should be faced squarely.

This is a song of profound significance to Atao. It was also the second song he took up the guitar to compose. This song is dedicated to my grandfather and the era of fresh river water that will never return.

My grandfather and his brothers were very rare farmers who were good at fishing and hunting in their hometown of Kansai in their early years. They could hold their breath for a long time in streams, dive very deep, and easily catch big carps and big seabass eels with their bare hands. They could be said to be somewhat legendary fishermen back then. And it was this master in the stream who taught the Atao brothers to swim and fish.

Faced with these naughty and trouble-making grandsons, my grandfather often said in a scolding tone, "It's not easy for small people to fight each other." The Atao brothers would talk back, "It's not good for adults either." "Fight each other", my grandfather also liked to say: "Fool, the first fool in a fight is not to hit someone separately." Therefore, the first verse of this song is almost my grandfather's famous saying.

In his grandfather's later years, he often recounted some of his experiences of getting along with nature when he was young. In order to comfort him who was ill in bed, Atao wrote the first song "The Thing About the Head Swing", and the first thing he thought of was What I want to recreate is this memory of the stream that I had with my grandfather.
