Animation poster (40 Zhang) production company Aniplex, Japan's Fuji TV and A-1 Pictures animation production company launched an original animation project called "ANOHANA PROJECT" in December 2010. The director, editor and character designers are all from the core members of the 2008 TV animation "Dragon and Tiger". Director Ryuyuki Nagai serves as the supervisor of original animation for the first time. He has previously directed many works such as "Dragon and Tiger" and "A Certain Scientific Railgun". The script is written by Mari Okada, who has written scripts for "Fate/stay night", "Black Butler" and other works. Masaga Tanaka, who is responsible for character design, has worked on "School Apocalypse" and "Katetsu Hitman Reborn!" in the past. "And so on for character design.

The stage is set in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and many real scenes and buildings appear in the animation.

The six people who have been childhood sweethearts since childhood have become distant from each other after entering high school. The protagonist Jinta Sukai who doesn't have much contact with people, Naruko Anjo who is a bit influenced by the little girl, Shu Matsuyuki and Chiriko Tsurumi who enter key high schools, Hisakawa Railway who gave up high school and started traveling, and Honma who died in childhood. Meiko (soul, only Jinta can see) is still the same as before.

One day, Meizi said to Renta: "Please help me realize a wish." Although Renta was a little embarrassed, he still agreed to help Menma realize his wish. Taking this as an opportunity, in order to realize Meiko's wish, everyone scattered everywhere gathered together again.
