You can follow the following steps to train your notation skills:
If you are not yet able to read music and sight-sing new songs you have never heard, practice reading music and sight-singing first. Then the following training can be performed.
If you can already read music and sight-sing new songs, find a few songs that you have music notation and can sing. Try to memorize the music without reading it. When you encounter a part that you can't memorize, look at how the original music is notated.
When you can memorize the scores of ten songs of different styles, you can try to memorize short and slow songs without scores independently.
The music to be notated must have recording files that can be listened to repeatedly, such as tapes, digital files, etc. If you want to memorize the entire score after listening to it once, no one can do it.
The key points of notation,
1. Note one sentence at a time (four measures constitute a phrase). You have to listen to each sentence repeatedly, and remember a little bit each time you listen until you have memorized the complete sentence.
You should train your auditory persistence ability. (See the explanation below)
2. When noting the score, you can first record only the pitch (roll call), and then fill in the note value marks when you listen to it again and again.
3. Try to use the same marks and repetition marks of the previous one (two) sections.
4. The difficulty in notating music is not the pitch but the value. You should do more tone value training beforehand.
5. If you want to memorize harmony (chords), you must be familiar with harmonics, familiar with the auditory characteristics of all chords, and have accumulated a lot of harmony sensibility. Fortunately, you are only memorizing the single lines of the song, and leave the harmonies to the professionals.
Explanation,
Hearing persistence. In other words, every time you listen to a sentence, the sound effect will remain intact in your mind for a few seconds. It can be kept for more than ten seconds when the environment is quiet. People usually don't pay attention to this ability.
This is the most unique characteristic of human hearing, just like the ability of visual persistence. But the visual persistence ability is only a few tenths of a second. Cartoons that appear to be continuous are an example of taking advantage of human visual persistence. The machine gunner can accurately judge how many bullets were fired in the previous burst based on the persistence of hearing. If you try to count while firing continuously, you won't be able to count.
Learning to develop and utilize your own auditory persistence ability is an essential skill for an excellent notation player. A quiet notation environment is also crucial.
