What is Schubert's Unfinished Symphony?
The origin of this work is like this. The Unfinished Symphony is also called Symphony No.8 (B minor), which was written in 1822. Schubert dedicated it as a finished work to the Music Association in Graz, Austria, to express his gratitude to the Association for awarding him the honor membership certificate. It was not until 1865 after his death that people discovered the score of the symphony, which was called "unfinished" because it had only two movements. Although, according to the paradigm of classical symphony, only Allegro in the first movement and Adagio in the second movement can't be regarded as "completed", Schubert broke the tradition and the creative ideas of the two-movement symphony have been enriched and integrated, showing unique artistic charm.
