It is the tenth independently established specialized music college in China.

2. The predecessor of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music is the Conservatory of Music of Hangzhou Normal University, which was founded in 1982. In December 2013, the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government decided to transfer the organizational structure of the Conservatory of Music of Hangzhou Normal University to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. ; On November 16, 2014, it was formally established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China; on March 1, 2016, it was formally established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China.
