Often, the hidden gems shine brightest. They may be harder to find, but easier to love.
Untethered by box office collections or awards glory, the following films are kept secret from all theatergoers.
In keeping with the theme of the question, I tried to pick movies with less than 100,000 votes on IMDB.
While this means that some of the films I adore didn't make the cut, it would feel unreal to include them properly in the list.
So, here are the honorable mentions:
Homeward Bound (2011), Upgrade (2018), Moon (2009), Attack the Block (2011), The Hunt (2012)
The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)
If one were to spoil every aspect of "The Peanut Butter Falcon";? all its strengths, complexities, perfections and imperfections can be described in one word .
The Peanut Butter Falcon Movie is an adventure movie that explores themes of compassion, love, redemption, and hope.
There is something to be said about the painterly prowess of "feel good" movies; they pay off in spades. The Peanut Butter Falcon, led by the charming Zack Gottsegen, is an impressive spectacle.
A Most Violent Year (2014)
JC Chandor's crime scene drama feels like a movie that doesn't belong in a movie. It's a remnant of a bygone era, and this film could be a worthy companion to the equally restrained dramas of the '70s.
I don't make the comparison lightly - A Most Violent Year has shades of The Godfather. Both an impressive and tightly wound story, and a brilliant performance from Oscar Isaac that echoes Pacino's work as Michael Corleone. .
Jessica Chastain's stellar performance is also one of her best.
Contrary to its title, there isn't much violence in "A Most Violent Year," but it's still a compelling drama.
Sing Street (2016)
Starting next and again in the third installment of John Carney's suspended musical trilogy, Sing Street is impossibly charming.
The film's core story is a coming-of-age story that revolves around a boy who forms a band to impress a girl.
And, it’s delightful. You'll definitely get the chance to flip through Carney's endearing stories with an almost constant smile on your face and a tap of your feet. Sing Street has endless charm.
Nothing (2006)
Starring David Schwimmer, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, and Filmed in a hauntingly beautiful region of Wales, Big Shot is a brilliantly dark comedy that disorients and disorients.
Nonetheless, it's an original story that hits a few standard beats of a comedic criminal assassin, but "The Big Clueless" is as funny as it is sharp.
There are plenty of twists and turns, as well as hilarious moments. As you can probably tell, this movie is exciting and fun.
Nothing is the quintessential hidden gem. This is a diamond.
