As the president of the Kyushu University Music Association in Japan and a professor at the Faculty of Education of Nagasaki University, Horiuchi Ibuki had just selected Zhang Lu, a girl who graduated from the piano department of Shenyang Conservatory of Music, to become his only Chinese graduate student. ? It is understood that 23-year-old Zhang Lu started learning piano at the age of 3. Her first teacher was Guan Anhong, a pianist from Shenyang Conservatory of Music (currently a piano teacher at New York University in the United States). After graduating from elementary school, Zhang Lu was admitted to the High School Affiliated to Shenyang Conservatory of Music. Six years later, she was successfully admitted to the Piano Department of Shenyang Conservatory of Music and studied under the famous pianist Lin Zhengang. With more than ten years of solid piano skills, Zhang Lu won the third prize of the "Schumann Cup" of the International Youth Piano Competition in 2005 and the second prize of the Asia-Pacific region. ? After being admitted to Nagasaki University, Zhang Lu began the intense life of a preparatory student. She spent more than 10 hours a day studying Japanese and practicing piano, and within a year she became a formal student majoring in piano at the Graduate School of Education at Nagasaki University. ? Zhang Lu, who has a cheerful and lively personality, quickly became a leader in the school. In the academic exchange event held by Shanghai Normal University at Nagasaki University on March 16 this year, Zhang Lu acted as a full translator and received unanimous praise from Chinese and Japanese teachers and students. On April 26, Zhang Lu held a unique concert at the Nagasaki University Concert Hall. She played a number of piano pieces with Chinese national elements and various styles, winning warm applause from the teachers and students of the school. ? Under the recommendation of her tutor, Zhang Lu will go to Venice, Italy to participate in the 2nd Astromonte International Music Festival Piano Competition in July this year.
