Fong, born on July 14, 1983), a Hong Kong male singer, was born in Hawaii, USA, and successively lived in Shanghai and Guangzhou life and settled in Hong Kong in 1998. He is a singer-songwriter who rarely creates R&B and soul music in Hong Kong. His father is a Chinese-American and a professional drummer. He taught him how to play the drums, so he was exposed to music at an early age, while his mother was Ru Lan, a lyricist. When he was 5 years old, he watched a movie about musicians, which made him interested in music and stage performances. He has been performing and singing at friends' parties and community events since he was a child. Fang Datong taught himself guitar at the age of 15 and piano at the age of 18. Fang Datong released his first solo album "Soul
Boy" in November 2005, and was dubbed "Hong Kong Jay Chou" and "Hong Kong Tao Zhe". Fong Datong said that he hopes to interpret his music in the language he is most familiar with. Because he is not good at Cantonese, so although Fang Datong debuted in Hong Kong, he only sang songs in Mandarin or English. He was once rumored to have had an affair with Hong Kong female singer Fiona Sit.
