Music History:
Ding Wei started learning Erhu at the age of seven. In 1991, she was admitted to the Composition Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, majoring in Learn to compose. During this period of long-term formal music training, in addition to the study of traditional Chinese music and Russian classical music, RICKIC LEE.JONES and TORI AMOS had obvious differences, innovations and changes in the spirit of her subsequent music creation. When she was a freshman in high school, she started to like pop music and started composing songs. After college, I sometimes sang in small performances, and sometimes sang in the recording studio. In 1993, he recorded two songs he composed as a DEMO. One of the songs, "Guess", which had a jazz flavor, was brought to Beijing by a friend and attracted the attention of professional musicians from all walks of life in China, especially Beijing Dadi Records. Her talents in lyrical literature and creative music are highly appreciated. For her who was passionate about music at the time, Yuyou's actual record of creating music based on every moment of his life was his true passion for music. She doesn't think she is outstanding. Although she loves performing music very much, she has never imagined being on the acting stage. One month after returning to Shanghai, Beijing Dadi Records took the initiative to go to Shanghai and sign a contract with Ding Wei, who was still in school.
In 1994, Dadi Records recorded and released a campus folk song album. Ding Wei sang a song called "Office Worker" in the album, which became the main song for promotion. The album achieved great success both in terms of reviews and sales in China. And it brought about a trend of campus folk songs in China at that time. "Lao Lang" also rose to prominence because of this album.
In 1995, Ding Wei established her status as a musical talent in the Chinese music scene and released her first solo album "Butterfly with Broken Wings" in China. People in the New China music scene and the media also spoke highly of her musical talent. The whole album "Butterfly with Broken Wings" is filled with the feeling of JAZZ and BLUES, which made people in the Chinese music industry call her a "blues girl" in shock.
In this album, she released four songs and three original works, "Guess", "Distant City", "Forget It", and "Meteor Shower". In addition to being a singer, she was still a student at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. After graduation in 1995, he went to Beijing, ending her unforgettable 14 years of study at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Her talent in music creation also attracted the attention of the three places across the Taiwan Strait, and they successively invited her to compose songs: Na Ying - Love Is Perfect without You , Andy Lau - I Want Your Everyday, Ma Ge - Girl and Quartet, Zhang Mai - The Rain Will Never Come Again, Dong Ying - Simple, I Miss That Winter, Guo Xiuyun - Mulu Lala, etc. There are about 30 more songs.
She will continue to walk bravely with his music. In 1999, Ding Wei's considerable musical talent attracted the attention of Taiwan, the hub of the Chinese-speaking market. She officially released her personal music album Begin in Taiwan, which truly showcased her creations of different musical elements over the past few years. Some of the works such as "The Beginning" and "I'm Not Here" are a completely new field for her, who has been studying classical music since she was a child. Inspired by British Trip-Hop music, she made new attempts in music mood and rhythm editing, and also gave her a breakthrough in singing style. Girl and Quartet is another version of a work she composed in China, which was sung by a girl named "Ma Ge". The new version of Girl and Quartet has been completely rewritten, and in his delicate eyes there is still a special emotional interaction between the girl and the notes. It's Snowing, Tea and Coffee, Your Solo Dance, and Shoes are all works she has accumulated over the past two years. A kind of academic classical sound quality, an ethereal atmosphere, although it doesn't sound so happy, that's because happiness is short-lived and precious to her. There is a sad beauty in her music. All emotions, joyful and painful, are real and will always be in her soul. In her musical energy, we believe that she has unlimited potential and future. For BMG Pan China, who strives to discover new Chinese music, we are more proud of Asians than ever. What we can say with greater certainty is that you cannot help but notice the charm exuded in her music.
In 1993, she began to formally try to change her attitude towards life. The power of living existence is released in his music creation. She says the way she creates is natural. "Emotions, talking, watching. Real life can make songs." She carefully completed the emotional records of these years. We still remember that night. Everyone in Anxiu's office was shocked when they heard Ding Wei's music creation for the first time. Over the past four years, she has been exploring what kind of music she should make? Perhaps it is a piece of music that truly belongs to one’s own soul, a music that exists for all Chinese people in this era. This is a new beginning, a new "beginning" for all Chinese.
"If you don't do it, you have to do it well," she said. Ding Wei's upcoming solo album "Begin" will be mainly composed by herself. When planning this album with producer Jin Wulin, in addition to fully presenting her touch in life, literature and music over the years, you will hear many musical elements that are different from most popular songs in Taiwan's music scene. It is modern, classical, electronic and warm. Perhaps this is the honest attitude that Ding Wei and producer Jin Wulin insist on towards music and themselves. You will also experience a woman's keen inner world in her lyrics and music. A collection of courage, sincerity, and sadness, a kind of innocent music that directly touches the deepest and softest part of the human heart. People's truest emotions should not be ignored. The power of musical essence cannot be calculated. We are more proud to be Asian than ever. I heard Ding Wei "start" from now on.
