Music has an excellent therapeutic effect on some diseases with poor therapeutic effect, such as diabetes, bronchitis, neurasthenia, low back pain and insomnia.
Music can be divided into instrumental music and vocal music. Music therapy is mostly instrumental music. Melodious music enters the human body through hearing, and its rhythm and harmony can stimulate the cranial nerve system, prompting the body to secrete some biochemical substances beneficial to physical and mental health, such as hormones, enzymes, acetylcholine, etc., which have the functions of pleasing the body and mind, eliminating fatigue, relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, helping digestion, improving circulation and increasing blood flow, and helping to improve people's immune function.
Babies often listen to music, which can promote their intellectual development. Pregnant women can have prenatal education when they listen to music, but they must carefully choose the music tapes that are qualified by experts and technical supervision departments to prevent the hearing of the fetus from being damaged.
According to medical clinical experiments at home and abroad, it is generally believed that music therapy is effective for physical and mental diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal dysfunction, pain, neurasthenia, listlessness, insomnia, dreaminess, psychological disorders and bad emotions.
However, not all music is good for people's health. Some psychologists have done investigation and analysis, and found that band members who mainly play classical music are mostly in a calm and happy mood. More than half of band members who play modern music or those who mainly play it are irritable and suffer from nervousness, and some people often suffer from insomnia, headache, earache and diarrhea. The international standard for noise-induced deafness is 9 decibels. According to the measurement, the volume of rock music is 9 ~ 11 decibels, disco music is 14 ~ 114 decibels, and symphony is generally around 8 decibels. Otology experts point out that playing loud, fast-paced and exciting concerts all day causes sensorineural deafness.
Scholars also found that shrill music strongly stimulates the nervous system and even destroys the normal function of the heart and vascular system, while people who often enjoy romantic music are cheerful, active, quick-witted and psychologically healthy. Therefore, music therapy uses music that has been proved to be effective by clinical experiments. Generally, dance music, concertos, symphonies and other genres are mostly classical instrumental music, or some light and fluent light music such as classic movie music, classical music sketches and national folk instrumental music.
