In 1994, Xie Tianxiao formed the band "Monk Hunters". At the end of the year, he composed the song "You Are Not Like You" and film music for the movie "Vietnamese Girl".
In 1995, the single "Telling Cause and Effect" was released. In the same year, Xie Tianxiao left the "Monk Hunter Band".
In 1997, Xie Tianxiao and Li Ming, a fellow Shandong native, formed the band "Cold-Blooded Animals". The band consists of lead singer and guitarist Xie Tianxiao, bassist Li Ming, and drummer Liang Xu. Later the drummer was replaced by Wu Rui from Ningxia.
In 1998, "Cold-Blooded Animals" performed at the Howling Club in Beijing. In 1999, "Cold-Blooded Animals" signed with "Howling Records" under Jingwen Records.
In 2000, Xie Tianxiao released his first album "Cold-Blooded Animals". In the same year, Cold Blooded Animals toured mainland China, including Shanghai, Kunming and other cities, and later participated in the International Rock Music Festival held in Japan.
In 2001, the single "Right Here" was recorded. In the next three years, the band was invited twice to participate in the SXSW and Mendocino Music Festivals held by South by Southwest Company in Texas and San Francisco.
In 2003, Xie Tianxiao returned to China and re-formed the band "Cold-Blooded Animals" in Beijing, adding American drummer David. In 2004, Xie Tianxiao signed a record contract again with "Howl Records" under Jingwen Records and began recording his second album. In the same year, the band officially changed its name to "Xie Tianxiao and Cold-blooded Animals". In 2005, Xie Tianxiao released his second album "X.T.X".
In May 2006, invited by the Italian government, Xie Tianxiao was the only Chinese musician to participate in the "Italian Chinese Culture Year" performance in Italy. In June, Xie Tianxiao was invited by Cui Jian to participate in the "20 Years of Chinese Rock" commemorative concert. In August, the single "I Don't Love You" was recorded and released. September·Participated in the "Beijing Pop Music Festival" and was invited to sing with Sebastian Bach.
On June 8, 2007, the "Laughing in Beijing" concert was held at the "Starlight Live" concert hall in Beijing. At least 1,500 people flocked to the venue, setting a record for the number of audiences at a mainland artist's concert since the opening of Starlight Live. . In July, a signing press conference was held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Beijing, officially signing the contract with March Records.
On April 2, 2008, the third album "Only One Wishes" was released. At the end of June, Xie Tianxiao held a concert titled "Beijian Performance Season in March - Rock Night" at Beijing's "Beizhan Theater". In July, the digital EP "Standing on the Four Rings and Looking Around the Five Rings" was released.
On July 31, 2009, the "Who and Zheng Feng" solo concert was held at the Beijing Olympic Sports Center Football Stadium. On September 25, he participated in the suspense movie "Pirated Cat". On November 19, the album "Ebb and Flow Is Nothing" was released. On December 24, the EP "Guzheng Reggae" was released.
In 2010, Xie Tianxiao was invited to hold a concert in the auditorium of Jiangsu University, which opened with the song "Who and Zheng Feng". In the same year, he won the Rock Midi Award for Best Male Rock Singer of the Year.
In May 2011, Xie Tianxiao participated in the 2011 Strawberry Music Festival. On June 18, he participated in the costume online TV series "The Hands" and played Wu Songsong. On December 27, the single "Dye the Night Black" was included in "Modern Sky 7".
On May 16, 2012, he participated in the science fiction micro-movie "Aliens and Limited-Price Housing".
On March 3, 2013, the album "Hallucination" was released and the "Hallucination" concert was held at the Beijing Workers' Stadium. Xie Tianxiao therefore became the fifth mainland rock musician to successfully hold a solo concert at the Beijing Workers' Stadium, following Cui Jian, Wang Feng, Xu Wei and Zheng Jun. On January 1, 2014, Xie Tianxiao won the Rock Midi Award for Best Male Rock Singer of the Year.
On April 9, 2015, Xie Tianxiao announced in Beijing that he had signed a contract with Shu Music. On June 20, Xie Tianxiao kicked off the 2015 "Laughter Comes - The Sound of Growing Trees" concert tour in Shenzhen.
