Tianjin Conservatory of Music is located in Tianjin, one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government, and enjoys strong educational and financial support from Tianjin. The school was founded in 1950 and is one of the first master's degree-granting units approved by the State Council. Its predecessor was the Central Conservatory of Music founded in Tianjin in 1950.

After more than sixty years of construction, the college has developed into an important higher art education institution for cultivating talents in music, dance, drama, film and television. It now has three first-level disciplines: Art Theory, Music and Dance, and Drama and Film, and one professional master's degree (MFA) authorization point. Music and Dance, Drama and Film are municipal key disciplines. The college currently offers 12 undergraduate majors such as music performance, including 2 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 Tianjin municipal-level advantageous specialty majors, and 3 applied majors.
