On December 31, the song was once again selected as a hit in Japan's "37th Red and White Uta Battle". In 1986, Teresa Teng invited Taiwanese lyricist Ms. Shen Zhi to fill in Mandarin lyrics for the song. Shen Zhi named the song "I Only Care About You" and kept the Mandarin lyrics with the original meaning of the Japanese lyrics. Teresa Teng then sang the Mandarin version using the accompaniment of the Japanese version, and the chorus in the song was sung by Teresa Teng herself. During the recording of the Mandarin version, Teresa Teng was suffering from kidney disease. Although the sound of her Dantian caused pain in her waist, she still completed the entire piece at a high level.
