PianPian pays attention to the use significance of the pitch of the percussion instrument, and PianPian achieved unprecedented development in the pre-Qin period. From the unearthed objects, a complete and clear pentatonic scale has been formed in the compilation of Jiaokou Yaowa Village, and then a large-scale compilation with the function of rotating the palace, such as Ceng Houyi's, appeared. With the development of music, inscriptions on music began to appear on the stone chime. The inscriptions on stone chimes (including musical inscriptions) recorded the specific situation of the use of stone chimes and were important early literature materials. Some inscriptions are very systematic and detailed, such as Ceng Houyi's arrangement, and the sound proof of chimes from the same tomb. An ancient pre-Qin musical instrument with a clear musical sequence, six kinds of hanging methods, which can be arbitrarily tuned in twelve tones, appeared in the music history of China (Li Chunyi 1983: 8 ~ 24). In addition to the development of music, the external decoration of the production became more and more exquisite, such as the arrangement of colored paintings in Jiangling, the exquisite carved phoenix on the vessel, lifelike, and painted with colored paint. These colors were clearly visible when unearthed, which showed the splendor of the production at that time. This exquisite ornamentation and inscription can still be found on the Qing Palace series of stone chimes. The dragon-shaped chime with gold-painted dragon and cloud as the pattern is exquisite in carving technology, and its lines are decorated with golden beauty, which makes the golden dragon exquisite. There are also a large number of inscriptions engraved on the stone chime, which reflect the production situation at that time and the inscriptions on the music and rhythm with the monthly use. These inscriptions record some specific conditions of the use of the stone chime, which can be regarded as a concrete supplement to the literature records and also as physical evidence for exploring the development of the stone chime in morphology.
