Yuan Ye is the first China opera to be put on a foreign stage. In January, 1992, it was staged at Eisenhower Theatre, Kennedy Center, Washington, USA. The characters in the play were played by Chinese singers living in the United States, and the conductor, director, band and chorus members were played by American personnel. The performance was a success.
