Founded by outstanding pianist, conductor and music promoter Nikolai Rubinstein (1835-1881). Tchaikovsky taught here in the early days of its establishment. Later, in order to commemorate Tchaikovsky, the Soviet government renamed it the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music.
The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music is currently one of the world's top music conservatories and a member of the European Conservatoire of Music. The purpose of Chai Yuan is to cultivate master musicians. The school provides students with a five-year expert degree education. After completing the five-year education, they will be certified as a master's diploma (no postgraduate entrance examination is required for combined bachelor's and master's degree).
