The Music Department of Hubei Normal University has two undergraduate majors: musicology and dance, and musicology has three major directions: music education (normal), music performance (non-normal) and composition and composition technology theory (non-normal). Dance major has two major directions: dance education (normal) and dance choreography (non-normal). Nowadays, with the strong support of the party and government leaders in the school, all the teachers and students of the Music Department are adhering to the training of "Honesty, Diligence, Diligence and Broadening Arts", and Qi Xin is working together to forge ahead and strive to build the Music Department into a strong music department in similar colleges and universities across the country.

musicology: music education direction

Training objective: to cultivate teachers, teaching researchers and other educators who have modern educational concepts, master the basic knowledge, theory and skills of music, and have the ability to conduct music teaching and teaching research in higher and secondary schools.

Musicology performance direction

Training objectives: This major cultivates modern educational concepts, grasps the basic knowledge, basic theory and skills of music discipline, and has the ability to perform professionally in literary and art groups, organize and coach mass literature and art, and conduct performance research.

Musicology composition direction

(composition and composition technology theory direction, non-normal, four-year undergraduate course, awarded with a bachelor of arts degree)

Training objective: to train professionals with both ability and integrity who can engage in, teach, research and edit music in professional literary and art groups, art colleges, radio, film and television, audio-visual publishing and other departments.

main courses: composition, harmony, polyphony, musical form, orchestration, China music history, western music history, an introduction to China folk music and China folk music.

Dancing: Dance education direction

Training objective: This major has certain basic Marxist theoretical accomplishment and systematic professional basic knowledge, has certain dance performance skills and teaching ability, and can engage in teaching and performance in high and secondary specialized schools or ordinary colleges, social literary and art organizations, art research units and cultural institutions.
