UNESCO has awarded the honorary title of "Music City" to six cities: Vienna, Austria, Bologna, Italy, Seville, Spain, Glasgow, UK, Ghent, Belgium, and Harbin, China. Harbin is not only a famous music city in China, but also the only city in Asia to be awarded the title of "Music City" by the United Nations. Harbin is China's century-old music city. The city's development has always been accompanied by music. Harbin has a rich musical heritage, which is indispensable to the large number of Jewish immigrants from Russia and Eastern Europe at the beginning of the last century. The earliest theaters, orchestras, and music schools in Harbin were founded and initiated by members of the Jewish community. The musical activities of Jewish musicians have enriched Harbin’s music stage and the cultural life of Harbin people, integrating exotic culture and customs into Harbin’s local cultural life, and writing the history of Harbin’s music culture.
