Song creation background:

It started from a little trick I played on the guitar. I played it to Mal and he said, "Oh, I have a good rhythm idea that would go nicely behind it." We started with that song.

It took us several months of fiddling to get everything in place. To be honest it's really just a case of finding a good title, we came up with this thundering thing based on our favorite childhood toy "Rattrek" which seemed to have a great ringtone. AC/DC = power supply. This is the basic idea.

The video accompanying the single was filmed on 17 August 1990 at Brixton College in London. Viewers were given free T-shirts that said "AC/DC–I was thundertruck" on the front and the date on the back, and were worn throughout the entire video shoot.

Since the song became available for digital download, it has sold over one million digital copies.
