In 2000, he was admitted to the Department of Folk Music of the Central Conservatory of Music for undergraduate studies with the first place in his major, and studied under Professor Sun Weixi. He also joined the China Youth National Orchestra as the pipa principal, and visited Hong Kong and Taiwan on behalf of the Central Conservatory of Music.
