The Orff music education system was brought to Taiwan by Father Su Enye (Belgian) in the 1960s and began to be promoted. After that, young students from Taiwan continued to go to Salzburg Orff Academy or other European colleges to study this teaching method. Especially after Mr. Lin Rongde met Mr. Orff, he came back to vigorously promote it. With the efforts of many colleagues who are enthusiastic about this cause, Next, Taiwan has made great achievements, especially in preschool education and teacher training. It has published a large number of teaching materials that apply Orff principles and combine local culture. In 1992, the Orff Educational Society was also established to unite other organizations. Colleagues have taken another big step forward. During their own development, they also paid attention to the development of children's music education in the mainland. Among them, teachers such as Chen Huiling, Liu Jiashu, Lin Fangjin, Zheng Youyi, and Shi Yili all came to the mainland to give lectures, which promoted cross-strait exchanges.
In the late 1970s, under the guidance of the general policy of reform and opening up, China's art education sector, which was in desperate need of development, began to face the world, the future, and the new process of modernization.
In 1979, the famous Chinese scholar Professor Liao Naixiong, director of the Music Research Institute of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, went to Germany to inspect music. He heard that Orff, the most famous composer in the world, was still alive, so he tried every means to find Mr. Orff’s phone number. At this time, the 84-year-old Mr. Orff was in his manor residence on the Ammer Lake outside Munich. He was basically visiting the house, when he suddenly received a call from a scholar from China asking for a meeting. Later, Mrs. Orff recalled that he could not imagine how the Chinese could find this phone number, nor did he expect that Mr. Orff, who had rarely seen visitors, would readily agree to this uninvited visit. This was a meeting of historic significance. Mr. Orff had a mysterious love for the Chinese culture in the far east. They hit it off immediately. Mr. Orff was surprised that Professor Liao had such an erudite and profound understanding of himself and his works. He immediately gave Professor Liao a complete set of music scores and sound systems for his works, including his five-volume "School Education". Mr. Orff also told Hou that his set of textbooks has been translated and used in more than 50 countries around the world, and textbooks have been published in 16 languages. In 1980, Professor Si returned to China. As a well-known expert in the history of Western music in China, he devoted his main energy to introducing and disseminating Orff's music education system. In addition to translating, he also personally wrote books based on Orff's educational principles. A batch of teaching materials, teacher training courses were held, and lectures were given all over the country... In particular, outstanding Orff teachers from Germany and Austria were personally contacted to come to China to give lectures and train teachers. The introduction of Orff's music education system gave my country's music education a higher starting point in the initial stage of reform, facing the world's best education system, and greatly shortened the process of my country's music education reform.
