Qian Xuesen, a famous scientist. Born in Shanghai on December 11th, 1911. My ancestral home is Hangzhou, Zhejiang. In August 1959, he joined the China Producer Party. Department of mechanical engineering graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1934. In 1935, he studied in the United States, entered the aviation department of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and obtained a master's degree the following year. After that, he transferred to the Aviation Department of California Institute of Technology. In 1939, he received his Ph.D. in aviation and mathematics from California Institute of Technology. He was an associate professor at California Institute of Technology, a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a director and professor at the Jet Propulsion Center of California Institute of Technology. In 1955, he broke through many obstacles and returned to the motherland. He has served as director and researcher of the Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, president and vice president of the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense, and concurrently served as president of the first branch of the Institute (which later developed into today's China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology); Director of the Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China. In 1965, he served as Deputy Minister of the Seventh Ministry of Machinery Industry, and later served as President of China Academy of Space Technology. In 197, he served as deputy director of the National Defense Science and Technology Committee. In 1982, he served as deputy director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. In 1987, he was hired as a senior consultant of the Science and Technology Committee of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. In 1998, he was hired as a senior consultant of the Science and Technology Committee of the General Armament Department. Member of the Second National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Deputies to the Second to Fifth National People's Congress; China * * * is a representative of the ninth to fifteenth national congresses of the production party, a special representative of the sixteenth national congress, an alternate member of the ninth to twelfth central committees, the vice chairman of the sixth, seventh and eighth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and later the director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Seventh National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is the chairman of the first Council of chinese society of theoretical and applied mechanics and China Automation Society; Executive director of the first Council of the International Federation of Automatic Control; Honorary Chairman of China Society of Astronautics, chinese society of theoretical and applied mechanics and China Society of Systems Engineering; Executive Chairman of the Presidium of China Academy of Sciences, Vice Chairman of the Second National Committee of China Association for Science and Technology, and Chairman of the Third National Committee. In 1991, he was awarded the title of honorary chairman of China Association for Science and Technology by the Fourth National Committee of China Association for Science and Technology. In 1957, he was co-elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences (member of the department), in 1994, he was selected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering, and in 1998, he was a senior academician of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering.
Because of his pioneering contributions in applied mechanics, jet propulsion, engineering cybernetics, physical mechanics and many other technical and scientific fields, and for the development of China's space industry, he has won high honors from home and abroad. In 1957, he won the first prize of Natural Science Award of China Academy of Sciences. In 1979, he was awarded "Outstanding Alumni Award" by California Institute of Technology. In 1985, he won the national special prize for scientific and technological progress. In June 1989, he was awarded the "W.F. Rockwell Medal", "World-class scientific and engineering celebrity" and "Honorary member of the International Institute of Technology" by the International Technology and Technology Exchange Conference and the International Institute of Technology. In October 1991, he was awarded the honorary title of "National Outstanding Contribution Scientist" by the State Council and the Central Military Commission and the first-class hero model medal by the Central Military Commission. In 1994, he won the first ho leung ho lee foundation Excellence Award (later renamed as "Science and Technology Achievement Award"). In 1999, he was awarded the "Two Bombs and One Satellite Meritorious Medal" by the Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission. In 22, he won the second "Fok Ying Tung Outstanding Award". In the same year, with the approval of the International Asteroid Center and the International Asteroid Naming Committee, the asteroid with the international number of 3763 discovered by the Purple Mountain Observatory of China Academy of Sciences was officially named "Qian Xuesen Star".
