Synopsis: After winning the Oscar for the film Glory about the American Civil War in the 19th century, director Edward Zevik turned his attention to the epic moment of Japan's transformation and the era of The Last Samurai in the 197s when modern Japan was born.
Nathan Aglen Capt. Nathan Algren, the American Civil War veteran colonel played by Tom Cruise, was appointed by the government to come to Japan to train Japan's first modern firearms army for the emperor. Meiji intends to thoroughly eradicate the samurai, the last remnant of the old general's power, and lay the foundation for formulating a more westernized new policy and promoting foreign trade. After Aglen's rebel warrior Fujimoto (Watanabe Kenshi) was captured, he began to understand the meaning of Bushido gradually through his contact with Fujimoto. Unconsciously in the center of the vortex of struggle between the two camps, he must make a decision according to his own heart and choose which side to follow.
