Haikou University of Economics is the first independently established private undergraduate university in Hainan Province established in 2008 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The history of the school can be traced back to the Haikou Amateur University founded in 1974, and has gone through development stages such as Haikou Vocational University and Haikou Economic Vocational and Technical College.
The school offers 53 undergraduate majors and 38 junior college majors, covering 6 major disciplines including economics, management, literature, engineering, art, and education; in May 2012, it passed the right to confer bachelor’s degrees After review, it became a bachelor's degree-granting unit; it recruits students from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country. There are currently 25,308 full-time students, including 16,237 undergraduates.
Teaching staff:
The school currently has 1,322 faculty members, including 1,052 full-time teachers and 327 teachers with senior professional titles. 534 off-campus teachers were hired, and 196 teachers had senior professional titles. Among the teachers, there are 2 experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council. More than 50 well-known domestic experts and scholars have been hired as visiting professors.
