Music, from ancient times to the present, no matter in which era or place, has infected people with its unique charm. It appears in various forms and effects in various occasions and atmospheres, affecting people's emotions and states. It has inspired many people to step out of the shadow of life, and it has also made many people lose themselves. So, how do our modern middle school students view music? How do they view popular music? What is their understanding of music? What is the status and role of music in life? How do they treat music correctly? Please take a look at our surveys and research. During this period of time, we conducted a survey among junior high school students in our school. According to the survey results, only 3% of the students did not like music, which shows that music has a relatively important position in the minds of middle school students. Most students will spend 20-50% of their energy on music, and only a small number of students will spend all their energy on music. This shows that students have a reasonable time to listen to music. Generally speaking, music plays a relatively positive role in the lives of middle school students. Pop music is popular among middle school students because of its sincere call for emotion, vivid expression of perceptual life, and its humor and easy singing. On the streets, in alleys, and on campus, you can see boys and girls everywhere carrying mini-phones across their bodies and listening to music with headphones on their heads. So what is the role of pop music that makes students keen on it? Puberty makes the inner world and emotions of middle school students extremely rich. They often put their emotions into singing pop songs. This emotional transfer is also one of the reasons why middle school students love pop music. Students have reported that music is the "flavoring" of life, it can adjust people's lives and make them more harmonious. Practice has proven that music has a significant impact on people's emotions, thoughts, psychology and physiology. It can stimulate the brain well, thereby improving the functions of the entire nervous system as well as endocrine, cardiovascular, digestive tract and other organs. Therefore, when people listen to music, they are refreshed and in a happy mood. In addition, according to some experts, music can also help prolong life. We also used the Internet to understand the opinions of middle school students in other places. Some students said: "We prefer songs with warm, sad and crazy emotions because we have too many worries and we don't know where to go." The nature of girls makes their emotions much more subtle than boys, and they are more interested in pop songs than boys. Children have more psychological feelings and insights. "I like the soothing and gentle mood of pop songs, which can express the sentimental character of girls. The lingering singing can touch our hearts the most, because it sings the main melody of our emotional world." Popular songs are so deeply rooted in the hearts of boys and girls that they have their own appeal. We cannot deny that most pop songs are melodious, profound, and close to life. They express feelings about personal life, ideals, and inner world. It is easy to cause emotional cries among middle school students. Naturally, middle school students become obsessed with pop songs. We believe that for pop songs, there are many excellent ones with sincere feelings and fresh styles. However, we cannot deny that the current pop music scene is also full of shoddy, vulgar, and overly sad music, which has caused some middle school students to fall into a depressed mood, and some have developed a decadent mentality due to the influence of the lyrics. , ultimately causing tragedy. Therefore, middle school students still need to have high music appreciation. Good songs can inspire people to work hard and make people enthusiastic; songs with low style can only make people decadent and affect their mental health. The next question we investigated is: students attach great importance to the role of music in life, but how much do they know about music? What problems can be seen from this? According to data, 62.1% of middle school students know little about music, while only 0.5% of middle school students know something about music after the 1990s! Even those who know a lot about 21st century music are only 4.1, while those who know more and less are 43.5 and 42.5 respectively. So we can’t help but ask, if our school offers music classes, why are there still people who don’t understand music? We conducted relevant questionnaire surveys.
Our research team conducted a questionnaire survey among 50 students in the school. 40 students chose music when answering their favorite extracurricular hobbies, accounting for 80%. However, among the students surveyed, only 20 students, accounting for 50% of the students surveyed, clearly stated that they liked the music classes currently offered in the school. The others chose not to like it or did not care. Some students said: The songs in music books are too far away from the lives of middle school students today. The lyrics are old-fashioned and the tunes are not catchy... When this phenomenon occurred, I, who teach music, felt deeply. The appreciation and singing songs selected in the teaching materials The contemporary music and singability are relatively poor. However, students’ exposure to media is diversified. They can access the latest music in the fastest way through TV, the Internet, MTV, CDs, tapes, etc., which further highlights the importance of music. The "outdated" teaching materials.
