In order to create buzz, Japan's music-related industries have pinned new hopes on the Hi-Res Audio standard. This is a large-scale plan from content and playback equipment to headphones and speakers. CDs represent music formats, playback equipment, headphones, and speaker specifications, thereby driving the music industry; Hi-Res, after several years of development, has gradually taken root from high-end products and is no longer high unit price. Device Rights.
In terms of headphones, Ele also took the lead and launched Hi-Res in-ear headphones priced at about 10,000 yen (approximately NT$3,000). After that, there were also other manufacturers. For Hi-Res headphones in this price range, even Sony's new h.ear On MDR-EX750 this year is around 10,000 yen. Radius, which uses unique dual-diaphragm technology in high-end headphones, has also launched Two Luansheng headphones, Radius HP-NHR11 (red in photo) and HP-NHR21 (dark blue in photo), are on the market.
Before the introduction in Taiwan, the author was entrusted by a colleague during a business trip in Japan and said that he wanted to buy a headset worth about 3,000 yen. When I tried it at the Japanese e-earphone Akihabara store, I already had it. I noticed that the two Radius headphones were originally compared with Fostex's TE-05 and Ele's EHP-CH3000SGN. Finally, I chose the HP-NHR21. However, after more than a month, I learned that Taiwan's Shihuo Co., Ltd. also We have agents for these two products.
HP-NHR11 and HP-NHR21 two headphones have the same frame design and appearance, and both headphones are available in pearlescent red with black and metallic dark blue with black. (However, if you don’t look carefully, the metallic dark blue is very close to black.) The only way to distinguish the two headphones from their appearance is to look at the appearance of the wire. HP-NHR11 is covered with rubber, while HP-NHR21 is covered with braided material. However, this He also said that it would be impossible to tell the difference between the two headphones without looking carefully.
The frame designs of the two are quite individual, a bit like a lightning shape. I don’t know if it is because the word “Ne” recognized by Radius as Hi-Res is integrated into the appearance design; but it directly affects The sound performance frame design is still quite traditional, using a funnel-shaped upper frame with a larger opening and a retracted rear, and a negative pressure hole at the end of the frame.
The design of the silicone earplugs and tubes of HP-NHR11 and HP-NHR21 is also very interesting. Although the silicone earplugs do not use complex composite materials like some headphones, their shape is similar to that of ordinary cannonballs. The earplugs with a round design are different. They are more like the shape of a hot air balloon with a wider front end and a narrower back end. Compared with the bullet-shaped design, it is also closer to the shape of ordinary people's ears and can have better sealing. In addition, the tube provides a two-stage type. The position of the earplugs can be selected according to the length of the inner ear tube and the wearing preference.
The 3.5mm plug used by these two headphones is not L-shaped or straight-in, but is tilted at an angle of about 45 degrees, and the tip is deliberately narrowed. This is because many users now use it. The earphones are used with mobile phones. Some mobile phone cases are thicker, which will affect some larger 3.5 pins. Radius's method is easy to use with various mobile phone protective cases, and it also has the respective outlet angles of vertical plugs and L plugs. advantage.

The two headphones do not use Radius’s signature dual-diaphragm design, but use another technology called High-MFD System, which is officially provided The picture design is to add a circle of magnets on the front of the diaphragm to repel the magnet of the original diaphragm. It uses the design of magnet polarity repulsion to increase the magnetic force, improve sensitivity and make the sound more detailed. Official It is claimed to be able to achieve 4dB sensitivity. In terms of structure, it should be considered a single diaphragm and double magnet design.
The author speculates that the monomers of HP-NHR11 and HP-NHR21 are likely to be the same, because according to the official specifications, both use 13mm monomers, with a power capacity of 5mW and a response frequency range of Hi-Res specifications between 5Hz-40kHz, but the sensitivity and impedance are different. The HP-NHR11 has a sensitivity of 102dB and an impedance of 25 ohms, while the HP-NHR21 has a sensitivity of 103dB and an impedance of 17 ohms. The difference in wire materials also makes the two headphones The sound is very different.
Just by connecting it to the mobile phone, I can feel the difference between the two twin earphones. Their sensitivity and impedance are fully reflected in the actual driving volume. It is obvious that the HP-NHR21 with lower impedance and slightly higher sensitivity is easier to use. The volume is high, but on the contrary, it is extremely sensitive to the background noise. For example, when paired with HiFiMAN's HM802U and MiniBox Gold expansion module, you can even hear the machine's background noise, but on the contrary, the HP-NHR11's background noise is not obvious.
The most common feature of the two headphones is that the sound field is average, and the mid- and high-frequency extension is better than that of headphones of the same level. However, the styles presented are quite different. The HP-NHR11 has more low-frequency volume. , is also relatively loose, and the overall timbre is a bit rough. Generally speaking, it is warmer, but I think this is due to the poor conductivity of the wire, which makes the overall timbre thicker and looser; as for HP-NHR21, the low frequency is less but The elasticity is better, and the overall sound is thinner and colder, but quite delicate.
HP-NHR11 or HP-NHR21 To say which one is better, the author personally prefers the more expensive HP-NHR21. After all, the resolution is obviously better and the low-frequency volume is less, but after all, the sound quality It is relatively dry and cold, and the mid-frequency is slightly receded. In addition, it is sensitive to front-end noise. On the other hand, the HP-NHR11 has a softer tone and more low frequencies. Perhaps the current mainstream consumer groups will prefer the HP-NHR11.
The author also mentioned by the way the reason why I finally chose HP-NHR21 in Japan. I think Ele's EHP-CH3000SGN has similar timbre to HP-NHR11, but has more low frequencies and poor high frequency extension; As for Fostex's TE-05, although the sound is brighter and more thorough, it is too aggressive and too bright. Although it can be replaced by a line tone, it is an additional cost. In the end, the author chose the slightly cooler but high and low frequency due to personal preference. The HP-NHR21 has a relatively good sense of extension.
This year, in addition to these two mid-priced entry-level Hi-Res headphones, Radius also has two high-end DDM dual-diaphragm headphones? HP-TWE31 and HP-TWF41, which are designed for mid-low frequencies. The coaxial configuration of the liquid crystal molecular diaphragm and the piezoelectric material diaphragm for high frequencies, coupled with the use of MMCX replaceable wire design, seems to be a very interesting product.
