The Music Department of Southwest Normal University was established in October 195. Its predecessor was the Music Department of the former National Women's Teachers College (established in Jiangjin County, Sichuan Province in 194). In October 1952, it was incorporated into the Music Department of Chongqing Art College and the Music Department of West China Union Medical College, thus laying a solid foundation for the Music Department of Southwest Normal University. The Conservatory of Music was established in December 1996. It has been 5 years since the establishment of the Conservatory of Music. In the past 5 years, in order to meet the needs of economic construction and educational development in this period, the school has successively implemented various levels of running schools: full-time undergraduate (four-year system, two-year system), junior college (five-year system, two-year system), adult education undergraduate, junior college (evening university, correspondence, self-study exam), postgraduate, teaching assistant advanced class, and single-course further study. At present, the Conservatory of Music implements the teaching plan of flexible credit system, offering compulsory courses for majors, elective courses for majors and limited elective courses. It has trained a large number of qualified music education teachers and other music talents for the country and made contributions to the cause of music education in China; In the past 5 years, the college has also made gratifying achievements in teaching, scientific research, artistic practice and other aspects. More than 6 winners have won performances, theories and creative competitions at national, provincial and municipal levels, more than 5 kinds of teaching materials have been compiled, more than 3 monographs have been published, and nearly 3 papers have been published. The overall level of teaching, scientific research and management has reached a new level, creating good conditions for the further development of the Conservatory of Music in the future. In the past 5 years, the director (dean) of the Music Department (College) has successively been: Licensing Jing (professor), Li Binsun (professor), Feng Esheng (professor), Xue Shiming (professor), Li Fangyuan (associate professor) and Dai Xiong (associate professor). The General Party Branch of the Music Department (College) was successively held by Zhang Bohua, Zhang Jinghua, Zhang Cong, Liu Yuanzhi, Zhao Lingzhuang, Wang Xinggao, Xi Deli, Qiao Shuqiong and Ran Guangbiao. The Conservatory of Music has a strong faculty, with a new comprehensive teaching building of 4,2 square meters. (In addition, there are 4, square meters of teaching buildings now under construction, which are expected to be put into use in recent years. There are classrooms, piano rooms, small rehearsal halls, concert halls, recording studios, fitness rooms and so on. The college is divided into four teaching and research sections: theory, vocal music (including voice research room), piano and instrumental music, adult education center and office, book and audio-visual reference room, audio-visual classroom, musical instrument repair room, storage room, computer music production room, multimedia computer microcomputer room and multimedia digital recording studio. There are more than 13, books and materials, more than 4, audio-visual materials, more than 1 pianos, more than 3 Chinese and western musical instruments, and recording equipment and audio and audio-visual equipment worth more than 1 million. There are 68 faculty members, including 5 professors, 22 associate professors, 17 lecturers, 13 teaching assistants and 11 administrative staff. Under the current excellent situation of reform, opening up and deepening education, the Conservatory of Music is making great strides, constantly carrying out teaching reform, improving teaching quality and scientific research level, striving to cultivate more qualified music talents for the country and creating brilliance for the development of music education.
