The original Cantonese version of Zen Temple Bells

The original Cantonese singer of Zenyuan Bell is Lisa (Huang Huanchan).

"Zen Yuan Bell" was created between 1939 and 1940. When Japan invaded China, Cui Weishi was in exile in Hong Kong, living a homeless life with no fixed residence. When he composed this piece, Cui Weilin was staying in a hotel. There was a Buddhist temple next to the hotel (in today's Temple Street), with the sound of bells in the morning and drums in the evening, and the sound of wooden fish. One day, he was full of melancholy. Faced with this situation, inspiration suddenly struck him, so he created "The Bell of the Zen Garden".

When Cui Weilin composed music, he first played it on the dongxiao, slowly looking for a suitable tune, recording a sentence when he thought of it, and then slowly concatenating it into a piece. This piece was also created in this way. This song was first played on a dongxiao and recorded, but today it is difficult to find its original recording.

The lyrics of "Zenyuan Bells" are as follows:

The clouds are cold and the rain is cold

The scenery is lonely and desolate in the middle of the night

The barren mountains are quiet

The sound of the midnight bell was vaguely heard

It is even more difficult to break a dream with the sound of the bell

Who makes me so sad

Alas, I am so sad Exhausted

Love is like a bubble

Mandarin duck dream

Three lifetimes agreement

How can it be ratified

Old love once Chao Duan

I am sad and sad, I have lost my love and hatred, and I am determined to escape love

The lone figure in the Zen courtyard is Xiao Xiao and sighs

It is like Du Yu crying and crying in the middle of the night
