The hand-waving dance is called "Sheba" in Tujia language. It is the original sacrificial dance of the Tujia people. It integrates song, dance, music and drama to express the production, life and battle scenes of the Tujia people.

The hand-waving dance of the Tujia people in western Hunan is a folk dance with Tujia ethnic characteristics that better reflects the ancient customs of the Tujia people. It is now mainly spread in Longshan, Baojing, Yongshun and other places in Xiangxi Hunan. It is usually performed at night from the third to the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.
