How did the snare drum rise?

The small drum is a percussion instrument of Zhuang, Dong, Yi and Tujia ethnic groups. Popular in Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hubei, Hunan and other provinces.

The drums of different ethnic groups are different in shape due to different popular areas and occasions. They are mostly used in traditional ethnic festivals, weddings, funerals and festive occasions, folk instrumental ensemble and opera accompaniment.

Drum of Zhuang nationality: Drum of Zhuang nationality, which is popular all over western Guangxi, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The drum frame is made of Chinese fir or miscellaneous wood boards, which is oblate, slightly arched at the waist, covered with cowhide on both sides, and fixed around the leather surface with a single row of big hat copper nails. The drum surface is 3 cm in diameter and 22 cm in height. The outer surface of the drum frame is painted with red paint, and three copper drum rings are placed around the drum waist (Figure). When playing, the drum is placed on the drum stand or wooden stool, and each hand holds a wooden drum pestle to play. The pronunciation is short and the timbre is crisp. It is often used for ensemble of eight-tone bands or accompaniment of Zhuang opera, and it is an inseparable rhythmic instrument. It is also used in occasions such as national festivals or folk weddings, funerals and celebrations.
