Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, referred to as Zheyin for short, is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is a public full-time ordinary university sponsored by the people's government of Zhejiang Province, approved by the people's government of Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Education of China, and established by the people's government of Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China.

The predecessor of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music is Hangzhou Normal University Conservatory of Music, which was founded in 1982. In December 213, Zhejiang Provincial People's Government decided to transfer the establishment of Hangzhou Normal University Conservatory of Music to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. On November 16th, 214, it was formally established with the approval of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Education. On March 1, 216, it was formally established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
