In 1981, he wrote his first movie script "No U-Turn". On March 24, 1982, the comedy film "Lemon Coke", which he served as screenwriter, was released. The film was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay at the 19th Taiwan Film Golden Horse Awards. In 1984, he filmed his directorial debut "Happy Ghost", which grossed HK$17.41 million, ranking twelfth in Hong Kong's annual box office. On July 14, 1988, the comedy film "Chicken and Duck Talk" directed by him was released. On February 2, 1991, the action crime movie "Across the World", which he participated in the screenplay, was released. In 1992, he filmed the comedy film "Happy Events at Home", which grossed HK$48.99 million at the Hong Kong box office, ranking second among the top ten grossing films in Hong Kong of the year. In 1993, he directed the costume comedy "Happy Events in the Flower Fields", which grossed HK$35.48 million at the Hong Kong box office, ranking second among the top ten grossing films in Hong Kong. In 1994, he directed the musical film "I Have a Date with Spring", which was nominated for the Best Film Award at the 14th Hong Kong Film Awards. In 1977, Gao Zhisen joined Li's Yingsheng as a screenwriter.
