A native of Changsha, Hunan, he was born into a musical family and began learning various folk music and Western musical instruments at an early age. He came to Beijing in 2000 and began to get involved in composition and MIDI music production. From 2002 to 2003, he served as an assistant teacher of multimedia music production at the Central Conservatory of Music and participated in elective MIDI production courses at the Conservatory of Music and across the country. He officially started creating film and television music at the end of 2003. In 2004, he was invited to serve as the music director of the Mainland Association of the Hong Kong Directors Alliance. In 2008, he was appointed as the creative director of the film and television music production department of Beijing Xiaoliang Oriental Culture Development Company. Now he is mainly engaged in film and television music creation and production. Because friends all like to call him by his nickname "Dou Dou", over time he became accustomed to using Dou Dou as his pen name, and most of his musical works use this name.
