Music and beats abound, which is the tone set at the beginning of "Exploding Drummer". The film's director and screenwriter, Devon Chasoul, invited Dan Levy and Duke Ellington to write the interludes "Drum Up" and "Caravan" respectively.
Shows his great musical insights. Additionally, he knew how to highlight the film's theme that creating great music requires both sweat and talent.
Main plot
Growing up in a single-parent family, 19-year-old Andrew aims at the legendary musician Charlie Parker and wants to become a top jazz drummer. One night when he was practicing at school, he was spotted by the devil mentor Fletcher and entered the regular band. At the same time, he also began to pay the price for his pursuit of perfection. The harder Andrew practices, the more isolated he becomes from the outside world.
The only one who understood him was Fletcher, but the latter's irritability and moodiness distorted the teacher-student relationship, which affected Andrew, and his own personality also changed. Finally, when Andrew finally stepped onto the stage of the New York Concert Hall, he was horrified to discover that Fletcher had been waiting to drive him into the dust.
