Shengfang Ancient Town has a long history. It was founded in the late Spring and Autumn Period 2,400 years ago. It was originally a water town and was first called Ditou Village and later Wuping. Ting and Weicheng were named Shengfang in the Song Dynasty, which means "the fragrance of winning water and lotus will last forever".

Shengfang is densely populated. The streets and alleys in the old city are centered on the Chuanxin River and extend in all directions. They are winding, deep and dense like a spider web. Walking through them is like walking through a maze. The ancient houses built along the water still give people a sense of traveling back in time. Business, fishing, hunting, and reed weaving have been the main contents of Shengfang's life for hundreds of years. Shengfang has unique folk customs, including two meals a day, residential styles, human interactions, and other unique customs.
