Cai Songqi, male, Han nationality, from Jiexi, Jieyang, was born in 1939 and is the former dean of Xinghai Conservatory of Music. He once served as a director of the Chinese Musicians Association, vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Musicians Association, and an evaluation expert for humanities and social science research projects of the Ministry of Education. He received the expert certificate for “outstanding contributions to higher education in my country” issued by the State Council and a special government allowance.
Cai Songqi has had a strong interest in music since he was a child. In 1957, he was admitted to the Department of Theory and Composition of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he studied under professors Qu Wei, Qian Renkang, Li Yinghai, Shi Yongkang, and Chen Mingzhi. He has been teaching at Xinghai Conservatory of Music since he graduated in 1962. He has been working in the field of higher music education for more than 40 years.
