The difference between ukulele and guitar

Ukulele is a small guitar from Hawaii, also called "four-string guitar". As the name suggests, it is a small guitar with only four nylon strings. In appearance, there is not much difference between the ukulele and the acoustic guitar, but they are much different in size. The sizes of folk guitars we usually see are 39 inches, 40 inches, and 41 inches, while the most common ukulele sizes are 21 inches, 22 inches, and 23 inches, which are obviously much smaller.

Folk guitars normally use steel strings, but ukuleles use nylon strings. In this regard, they are very similar to classical guitars.

They are also quite different in terms of playing techniques and vocal range. Folk guitar playing techniques are more colorful and the range is wider. Relatively speaking, the ukulele has simple techniques and its sound range is concentrated in the high-pitched area, making it suitable for playing fresh and lively music.

Ukulele and folk guitar are inherently two different styles and different types of instruments. Although they are both string-plucked instruments, they cannot be simply evaluated, nor can they be distinguished as good or bad.

Comparing a ukulele and a folk guitar is like comparing which one tastes better, a banana or an apple. It is meaningless. They are just two different instruments.
