Since its founding in 1915, the school has existed as a pioneer of Japanese music. It has a university (4-year program) and a graduate school (2-year master's program). It is the only music-majoring university in Kansai. , cultivating many musical talents in society. In addition to classical music, there are various courses in Japanese music (koto and shamisen), jazz, and popular music, providing students with instruction that meets the needs of the times.
