Editor TWS1 Bluetooth headset simple unboxing and review

In the past two years, apple airpods have driven the TWS Bluetooth headset market, and overnight it seems that this type of true wireless Bluetooth is everywhere.

I have been using moto pulse over-ear headphones with Sennheiser CX3.00 wired headphones. This was originally a good combination, but the weather in summer is too hot, and it is really uncomfortable to use earmuff headphones. And I don’t know if the CX3.00 can’t stand the heat, but the cable is so soft that it seems to melt when I pick it up. It's sticky and uncomfortable, and the Bluetooth headphones used for night running have also died due to years of sweat soaking. It became logical to purchase convenient headphones that can take into account the needs of listening to music during daily life and night running.

If my phone were Apple, I probably wouldn’t have to worry about it, just bite the bullet and just use AirPods. The sound quality may not be the best, but when paired with Apple, Apple’s own machine is more reliable, but I am an Android fan, so I can only find it slowly.

Since the economy is very tight, the budget cannot be too high. It is estimated that the ceiling will be 300.

Most of the 200 or so Bluetooth headsets I bought earlier are about the same level of sound, mainly because they are a little loud but not too boring when running at night. Therefore, my expectations for this product are probably those of Tsai Chin. When "Ferry" came out for audition, it met the requirements if it sounded. If it sounded OK, it exceeded expectations. I have considered headphones from QCY, Xiaomi, Redmi, and various Huaqiangbei products, but in the end I was convinced because Edifier supports APTX.

I bought the headphones from Taobao for about 200 yuan. I won’t go into details. After all, they are not advertising.

It took 2 days to wait for express delivery from Shanghai to Shenzhen, which is considered normal.

As soon as I received the text message notification, I went to the inn to pick it up and couldn’t wait to unbox it.

When looking at the pictures, I always felt that this thing would be very big. After receiving the package, I found that it is actually quite compact.

Open the package, and inside it is just the headphone package plus a storage bag. By the way, this storage bag is getting worse and worse. I think the storage bag that came with Dafa earplugs when I bought it was really beautiful and useful. I still have one in use. It must be 10 years old. The bag that comes with moto bluetooth headphones is also very good. Not bad, I have a few on hand to hold various bits and pieces.

I digressed, let’s get back to the topic.

The design of the box is quite satisfactory. The packaging protects the headphone body well, but it is not beautiful.

Taking off the sponge, underneath are two models of earplugs, L and S, manuals, warranty cards and charging cables. There is not much to say. As for the instruction manual, which is quite rudimentary, it only briefly explains how to use it.

The headset itself is nothing special, but after reading the manual, I found that it should not be able to connect two devices at the same time. The information found online did not mention this, so it should be certain that it cannot support two devices online at the same time. .

When I asked the customer service, they probably didn’t understand my question, so they gave me a bunch of nonsensical answers and told me that this thing can be used separately for left and right ears, which is equivalent to two earphones. Yo shit like that.

The headphone storage box and charger is about the same size as the airposd. I don’t have AirPods on hand, so I can’t make a real comparison. There is no problem in carrying it.

Take a photo with a minifigure to feel the size.

Open the storage box and you can see the two earphone bodies.

The earplugs on the main body are size M. It can be seen that the quality is actually average. The connection between the headphone body and the storage box is magnetically absorbed, and two metal contacts are connected. Open the cover and take it out to turn it on, put it back on the storage box cover to disconnect and standby.

So much for unboxing. In fact, I am not looking forward to the packaging of this product at all. After all, you get what you pay for. Although a good packaging can make people more trustworthy, the machine The quality itself is what matters.

The general packaging image seems to be a common problem of domestic factories. I have bought many such products, but relatively little effort has been put into packaging. On the contrary, the packaging of foreign factories naturally makes people feel reassured. .

For example, the Jabra STEP, which I have drowned in sweat, is about the same price, but the packaging is really high-end, although the actual sound quality is just that, it can be loud.

TWS1 is quite good in terms of wearing experience. I use the default size M earplugs. After inserting them into the ear canal, I don’t feel much. The weight is also suitable, and it can be worn for a long time. You won’t feel tired, but it’s still recommended not to wear it for too long. It’s better to rest for about an hour.

Because they are in-ear headphones, they have a natural advantage in sound isolation. Once you put on the headphones, the world becomes cleaner. However, the common problem of in-ear headphones - the stethoscope effect is also there, although because there is less The wire will greatly reduce the stethoscope effect, but it will still occur when speaking, and the control of the headset is concentrated on one point of the body, making this effect very serious during operation.

In terms of data transmission, the biggest selling point of this headset is that it supports APTX decoding, making it possible to listen to lossless music. Although the music decoding ability of mobile phones is generally average, lossless is always better than lossy compression. Maybe you can hear the audience member seventh from the left in the fifth row eating melon seeds. Well, they are spiced.

In the past few days of use, the biggest feeling is that the mid-to-high frequency reproduction of his vocals is relatively good, especially the reproduction of vocals is very pleasing to the ears. As for the bass, it is relatively average, so don’t worry too much. Big expectations.

For this test, I took out the audition playlist at the bottom of the box, and also invited two active speakers, Sennheiser CX3.00 (purchased for 399 yuan) and moto pulse. Headphones (Okay, I’ll just use these two headphones, I can’t pick out the better or worse one.) Let’s do a comparison.

Sennheiser CX3.00 (Picture source network)

moto pulse (Picture source network, my black one.)

Sennheiser CX3.00 was purchased from Dongdong for 399 yuan. Moto Pulse was a gift when Moto Z was released. This product seems to be very rare in China. At that time, the manufacturer told us that it was worth 1,000 yuan, but the actual price should be about 400 yuan.

In terms of price, the Edifier TWS1 is lower than the above two headphones. To be fair, wired headphones and over-ear headphones have inherent advantages over in-ear Bluetooth headphones. It is more appropriate to use a device that is half a price or one price lower than Edifier TWS1, or at least a device of the same price, rather than a device that is at least one price higher, but unfortunately there are only these two headphones. I can feel sorry for the rambler.

Since Edifier is the protagonist, let’s introduce it a little more. First, let’s take a look at the boasts and basic parameters of the official image.

Let’s highlight the following points:

As a digression about bio-diaphragms, Sony’s E888 around 2000 was considered an artifact because of its bio-diaphragm. At that time, the price was around 500, which was my monthly living expenses, so I could only drool while looking at it.

The song list is as follows. All sound sources are in FLAC lossless format or 320kbps. This is not a professional test after all, it is mainly a subjective judgment of personal listening experience, so using these sound sources is actually enough, so I don’t go out of my way to do it. I found a fever audio source for testing. I don’t have a fever! There is no need to consider wind power or nuclear power or the impact of radio waves on sound quality.

Here are a few songs to focus on and express my feelings about:

Eagle's "Hotel California" 94 live version is a classic audition track and a classic Eagles track, tested by various A frequent visitor, I test the sound field of headphones.

0''-30'' mainly observes the guitar solo part and the restoration of audience applause.

30''-60'' mainly observes the reproduction of drum sounds and bass and the subtle performance of maracas.

Generally speaking, in the performance of "Hotel California", both are Bluetooth headsets. The gap between Edifier TWS1 and moto Pulse is still relatively large. Although Edifier's Bluetooth version, decoding protocol and other different All indicators are better than moto Pulse, but the comparison between over-ear headphones and earplugs is fundamentally unfair. Over-ear headphones have inherent advantages, so the large gap is expected.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

It has quite high requirements for low frequency and surround sound, so I added it and played it, and it sounds pretty good.

0''-60'', when focusing only on stereo performance without considering other factors, the performance of the three headphones is almost the same, but after all, we cannot completely ignore other aspects of performance. In terms of the overall performance of the bass of the Chinese drum, the mid-range of the African drum and the treble of the triangle, it is still that of CX3.00gt; Moro pulsegt; TWS1. But when the volume of the moto pulse is also turned to the maximum, the sound it displays The effect is infinitely close to that of Sennheiser CX3.00, and the gap between TWS1 and the other two models in terms of bass performance is very obvious.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

Speaking of Tsai Chin’s ferry, I have to say that a few years ago, my brain was twitching and I tried Senhai’s big steamed buns, which made me leave. I haven't thought about it for a long time. If I weren't really poor, I probably wouldn't even look at cheaper earphones and earplugs now. After listening to the song, I was completely drunk. It was the first time I realized that even if the front-end is a little inferior, you are still the best headphones.

Now that I think about it, I shouldn’t try this thing. Ignorance is better than ignorance, and even the frog in the well is quite happy.

Comprehensive evaluation for this round:

I really like the part sung a cappella by Kitty Chan, a song in the musical "Snow Wolf Lake", it is almost a perfect interpretation.

This round of testing mainly focuses on the previous part of Kit Chan’s a cappella singing, mainly considering the vocal timbre and sense of space.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

The previous song mainly featured the female voice of Kitty Chen, but this one is the male voice of the singer.

The performance of this round is actually similar to the previous round of "Just Live for You for a Day". I like the performance of Edifier TWS1 more and more now, compared to Sennheiser CX3 .00 it really is more pleasing to the ears. The performance of moto Pulse is close to that of Sennheiser CX3.00.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

NetEase Cloud does not have the copyright of Li Na’s version, and it is difficult to find 320kbps or lossless format files online at the moment, so I use Han Hong’s version. instead. Tan Jing’s version is used as a reference.

Comprehensive evaluation for this round:

I really like Huang Boss Ed Sheeran’s Little Huang song, so I also added it for comparison, and the song itself contains very rich elements and needs to be clear. The resolution is also a test of the quality of the headphones.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

This song is purely a personal preference and I can’t help but use it for testing. It is not very suitable for testing.

Every time I feel like I can’t hold on anymore, I listen to this song. Then I look at the comments and find that there are still many people trying to survive, so I revive it again.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

It is also a private product, I like its catchy lyrics, nice arrangement, and beautiful home sound.

Comprehensive evaluation of this round:

I won’t say much about the rest. Most of them are private goods and personal preference.

Let’s briefly comment on some of the different performances of the three headphones in these songs.

In music that pays more attention to vocals, Edifier TWS1 performs well. The overall performance may not be better than Sennheiser CX3.00, but the vocal reproduction is more pleasing to the ears and sounds more comfortable. Some.

In music types that emphasize arrangement and instrument performance, the gap between Edifier TWS1 and Sennheiser CX3.00 will become more obvious, especially in the performance of the bass part. will be bigger. The more complex it is, the greater the gap.

The performance of moto Pulse is relatively stable, slightly weaker than Sennheiser CX3.00. When the volume is fully turned on and the volume is turned to the highest, its performance improvement will be more obvious, and it is infinitely close to CX3.00. performance.

In terms of music performance, Edifier TWS1 is relatively more suitable for music types that are less complex in arrangement and pay more attention to vocal performance, such as pop and folk songs. For music such as rock and metal that pays more attention to instrument lists and arrangements, the performance will be relatively weak, especially when it comes to the bass part, its performance will be a bit disappointing.

Based on the evaluation of so many songs above, the total score is as follows;

Serious delay has always been the biggest problem of Bluetooth headsets. In terms of sound quality, the impact is not particularly big. After all, not everyone Everyone can tell whether wind power or thermal power is being used, and whether the water level in Gezhouba has risen.

Bluetooth headsets have a delay that can be felt to some extent, usually about 1 second. It has no effect when listening to music, but the experience will become very poor when watching videos and playing games. I often feel that my voice and mouth shape don’t match up, causing me to act instantly. I have never been very fond of using Bluetooth headsets to watch videos and play games. The biggest reason is that the delay affects the user experience too much.

In order to understand the latency of Edifier TWS1, I simply tested it through videos and games to actually understand its actual situation.

For local videos, use "Swamp thing 2019" (Swamp Thing), 1080P video file plug-in in Web-DL-AAC2.0-H264 format and "Stranger Things" (Strange Things) Season 1 plug-in For subtitle testing, the player uses MX Player 1.924 (ARMv NEON) professional version.

During the playback of "Swamp Thing", there was no obvious sound out-of-sync problem, but there was an obvious sound delay in "Stranger Things", and you can clearly feel that the sound and mouth shape are out of sync. .

For online videos at Station B, choose "Tan Jing Jiu'er. (1080i flac ac3 dual-track ultimate collection edition" (av19414292) and "Gong Linna's flowing water - ultra-clear - no station logo, no audience background noise 》(av6311410) To do the test, turn off the barrage.

I also didn’t experience any obvious sound out-of-sync problem during the video playback.

In terms of games, I simply played chicken. Do a simple test.

Test platform: Xiaomi 6 (6 128G, MIUI 10 9.6.27 development version), Peace Elite version 1.2.9

I am not familiar with this type of test. I don’t have much interest in the battle royale game type. If my son didn’t want to play it, I wouldn’t bother to pretend, so it’s normal for me to be bad at it. There are no other games on my phone, so I had to use this one for testing. Anyway, its sound requirements are not very good. Quite high.

After playing a game, I found that the distinction between various sound categories and directions was very clear, and there was no obvious sound delay, which was very good. For example, there was a person next to the birth island. I was running next to me. I deliberately ran in different directions and found that I could clearly distinguish the direction and distance of the other person's footsteps. After picking up the gun, I could also clearly hear the other person when walking around the house. The weight of footsteps, direction, etc., and finally successfully killed the opponent with one shot

Although in the end only one person collapsed and was eliminated for no apparent reason, in terms of gaming, this headset can still meet the requirements. , at least it can meet my needs.

As for the phenomenon of sound delay and non-delay at different times during the video test, it is initially judged that it may be caused by the unstable connection of the device itself. This is not the norm. , there may be improvement after restarting the headset (compared to Schr?dinger, there is no guarantee that there will be improvement after restarting, and the stability still needs to be improved)

Strictly speaking, in fact, take the Edifier. It's unfair to compare TWS1 with Sennheiser CX3.00 and moto Pulse. I just don't have other headphones, so I can only compare them in this way.

Based on the quality of these two products. If evaluated according to the standard of the qualified line, Edifier's product would barely pass at best, but after all, the price is here, and it is a rogue behavior to only discuss the quality without considering the actual price.

This is more than a week. During use, I think this product is worthy of its price and even exceeds expectations.

The high-frequency performance of Edifier TWS1 is quite satisfactory and even exceeds expectations in terms of human voice reproduction. Because of the diaphragm, the reproduction of vocals is very pleasing to the ears. Even in most vocal performances, I think it is more pleasing to the ears than the Sennheiser CX3.00 (at least more pleasing to my ears).

Its biggest flaw lies in its low-frequency performance. It can be bluntly said that its bass is better than none. It is commonly known as "Listen Loud".

If you have relatively high requirements for music performance, I personally do not recommend choosing TWS headphones at this price. Either don't consider wired headphones, or raise your budget to about 4 digits, focus on products from traditional major manufacturers such as Sennheiser and Sony, and directly buy headphones that support LDAC if possible instead of wasting time at this price point.

If you have a limited budget and a strong need for TWS-type headphones, Edifier TWS1 is a good choice. After using it for a week, its performance has become more and more in line with my taste.

If you have a limited budget and no real need for true wireless, finding a limited-edition headset at this price may be a better choice.

Finally, I would like to add that in theory, the bio-diaphragm needs to be burned in to achieve better performance, but personally, it takes so long to burn in the machine for a mere 200 yuan thing. I don’t quite agree with it, and judging from my experience of using so many starter plugs, the sound quality of the headphones is minimally improved by burning them in, so I didn’t deliberately burn them in first and then test them this time.
